Biography
Michael Monroe (Matti Fagerholm, born June 17, 1962 in Helsinki) is a Finnish rock musician. He is best known as the singer for the glam punk band Hanoi Rocks, but was also the front man for all-star side project Demolition 23.
Monroe has recorded duets with both Axl Rose and Slash from Guns N' Roses. The song "Dead, Jail Or Rock'n'Roll" from Monroe's 1989 solo album Not Fakin' It had some popularity and aired on MTV. With Slash, Monroe recorded a cover of Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride".
Monroe has also performed on two Guns N' Roses albums, playing saxophone and harmonica on the Bad Obsession from the Use Your Illusion I album. He also provides vocals on the cover version of The Dead Boys song Ain't It Fun from the album "The Spaghetti Incident?".
In 2001 Monroe produced, provided lyrics and back up vocals for the Slipping Stitches single No Privacy, when Slipping Stitches were still known as Peace of Mind (named after the Monroe album). The two tracks were later re-released on Slipping Stitches first full length album Melody Cruise.
Michael's first wife, Jude Wilder, died on June 19, 2001. Michael married his current wife, Johanna, on July 3, 2003.
