Vocalist Jyrki 69 (born Jyrki Pekka Emil Linnankivi) of Finnish gothic metallers THE 69 EYES has issued the following update:
"Our new single from [the latest THE 69 EYES album] 'Back In Blood' in Europe will be 'Kiss Me Undead' that Nuclear Blast will deliver for radio stations and all the other media in this month.
"The song has become one of the most favorite new songs in our set list, I can tell you that after seeing you fans shaking your booty and banging your heads at the shows!
"When we were writing the song, I was thinking of a male vampire sleeping like a Sleeping Beauty or a Snow White
"It's a beautiful song.
"Kissing undead refers also to awake a cold heart with love."
"But NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
"Make a video for THE 69 EYES' new single, 'Kiss Me Undead'! We call you fans to show what you got and use your imagination to make this song to live on the silver screen!
"YouTube is full of AMAZING fan videos of THE 69 EYES, 'Brandon Lee' and 'Lost Boys', among others. Now let's make some official fan art that will make justice for the band and for the song!"
The lyrics for the song and further contest details can be found at this location.
THE 69 EYES took part in a North American headlining tour in October/November 2009. Support on the five-week trek came from DOMMIN and THE BECOMING.
"Dead N' Gone" was the second single off THE 69 EYES's new album, "Back In Blood", which was issued in Europe (excluding Finland) on August 28, 2009 via Nuclear Blast Records (September 15, 2009 in the U.S. through The End Records). It was tracked with the Grammy-winning producer Matt Hyde (SLAYER, MONSTER MAGNET, FU MANCHU) and features a guest appearance by MONSTER MAGNET's Ed Mundell. The recording process took place both in Helsinki and Los Angeles.
The first single from the album, "Dead Girls Are Easy", was described in a press release as "a nasty power anthem for sleazy pin-ups complete with a sing-a-long chorus aimed at those online chicks with the looks that kill!" The video for the song was directed by Margera and the artwork was designed by Estevan Oriol, whose work has graced countless covers from such artists as CYPRESS HILL, THE TRANSPLANTS and SNOOP DOGG.
