TARJA TURUNEN To Guest On New SCORPIONS Album

Former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen makes a guest appearance in the song "The Good Die Young" on the forthcoming album from veteran German hard rockers SCORPIONS, entitled "Sting In The Tail".

SCORPIONS' final studio album, "Sting In The Tail" will be released in North America on March 23 via Universal Music Enterprises. The CD was recorded at a studio in Hannover, Germany with Swedish producers Mikael "Nord" Andersson and Martin Hansen (the team behind THE RASMUS' "Dead Letters" CD).

After the release of the album and a three-year mammoth tour, which will take the SCORPIONS across five continents, the band will end its career. The group broke the news on its web site last month.

Guitarist Rudolf Schenker tells Billboard.com that the prospect of ending SCORPIONS is indeed "really sad, and I don't even want to think about it." But he explains that the band and its management ultimately feel it's the right move to end the band on a high note with its new album, "Sting in the Tail", rather than risk a slow decline.

"You can't think about SCORPIONS at 70, not moving on stage, playing 'Rock You Like a Hurricane' — but on stage it's not like a hurricane, it's a very small wind," he says. "There's no stinger, and that's not good. You're going back down hill, from big hall to small how, small how to club...Everything has it's end; the question is it a good end or bad end? In this case we want to do these things and make it a good end."

Regarding the SCORPIONS members' future plans, Schenker says that guitarist Matthias Jabs has a musical instruments store in Munich, while drummer James Kottak has his own band, KOTTAK. Rudolf himself intends to publish his book, "Rock You Live", in the U.S. and plans a collaboration with his brother a Michael Schenker — which may include SCORPIONS singer Klaus Meine on some songs.

  11. i can't wait to hear the whole track! i am sure they put this small part where tarja doesn't sing too much because they didn't want the voice to be recongnized..but enough to make us think all the time who is she..

    p.s.: the comment about anette...well..scorpions is better than Alyson Avenue..i mean..in my opinion, of course..and tarja better than anette..in my opinion too..
    so..let's just not make again the usual comparison between them..they are all great in their way..and it is all about taste.

    And how come that they annouced it in an interview? BEFORE the snipet was released?

    I mean - if they want this to be a secret, why they did say that it is Tarja Turunen?

    as for Princess releasing her book and CD and having her new secret project - by the way 2054 was a bit optimistic, I think ..

    do you know she wants to be an actress, too?

    I would not underestimate this woman - she could make a fine prime minister, too, in my opinion.

  14. he said that scorpions will have Tarja as guest a few days ago..maybe one week..and that part of the song was posted in January..so..
    I don't know..i just found an explanation..because since january till few days ago..everyone was really anxious to know about that voice!

    I checked just now the interview in Scorpions just to be sure - and the interview was done in January.

    I do not know who is the "he" who said that "few days ago",

    but I did read the interview in January. And you can check the date by reading that interview too...

    So, tell the "him" to tell you next time sooner.

    Living in Canada, I can attest to the fact that there is a lot of...how shall I say this diplomatically...um, AWFUL metal coming from the USA. And we are not much better north of the border.

    I don't remember wich one said that, but I read on a interview that a reporter asked a Scorpions member which one was his favorite song of the album, and he said "The Good Die Young". I hope they'll make a video for the song (featuring Tarja's beautiful's face, of course).

    I suppose their latest album is OK again, so no complaint from me, haha. But I'd really feel better if Tarja swore off the so-called NWOAHM (the *real* NWOAHM, of course, being the Bay Area Thrash of the eighties) ... :-p

    Even *if* *perhaps* the music of many of these bands may be more sophisticated than nu metal and closer to traditional metal in several respects - and I seriously doubt that, it seems to be just the plain old nu metal and metalcore re-packaged -, I'd rather go right to the source for inspiration than a pale imitation :-p

    ... a source like, for example, the Scorpions :-D

    Although I'm willing to concede that the "nu" In Flames, despite their hardcore influences, are possibly not actually *that* bad of a model, guitar-wise (even if, of course, their old stuff is better). But why stay with the not-so-good if you can have a lot better?

    Well, we'll see what kinds of guitar parts Alex is going to lay down on WLB. At least we can rest assured that the drums are going to sound a lot better, thanks to "Drum Beast" Uncle Mike. (Wonder if some of his "grunts and screams" are going to end up on the album as well ... :-p)

    i can only say that she like classical music..but metal too! she has grown up with classical music...and then...she discovered rock..so..i don't have any problem with that!
