29.01.2010
NIGHTWISH's "Amaranth" single, which was issued in 2007 as a mini-CD via Nuclear Blast Records , is now available as a flower-fragrance-shaped picture disc vinyl via Night Of The Vinyl Dead. The hand-numbered edition is limited to 500 copies and features the song "While Your Lips Are Still Red" on "Side Flower" and the single title track on "Side Band".
"While Your Lips Are Still Red" was written by NIGHTWISH leader/keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen as the main theme for the Finnish feature film "Lieksa!" which premiered in Finland in September 2007. The song features NIGHTWISH bassist/vocalist Marco Hietala on vocals, Tuomas on keys and NIGHTWISH's Jukka "Julius" Nevalainen on drums.
The movie "Lieksa!" was directed and written by renowned Finnish movie director Markku Pölönen.

This must be the most useless release in the history of music.
And it thought a certain coffin-sized box-set from a certain American band was untouchable.

Amaranth wouldn't be the best song ever even if every other song in the world would seize to exist.. And usually those kind of awards only mean that the winners sold the most. Which is nowhere near meaning to actually being the best.

Releases aren't just CDs and DVDs.
This "item" was MANUFACTURED by some company, and it contains music,so by definition it is a release.
When a fashion company makes a collector's item,like a pair of shoes,it's still clothing.

And that they release Amaranth on it, is one thing. But why also put While your lips are still red, the masterpiece since 2005 (with the Islander and Master Passion Greed on good 2nd and 3th place), on this sorry excuse of a vinyl release too? That songs deserves way more!

Of course. LOL. I didnt meant to say anything different.
But RELEASING a vynil disc is somewhat "special".
I said It's a collector's item because of this particularity. (beeing a Vynil disc)
I know for personal experience (as a sells person) that in a few years a vynil disc that will cost you 20? will be valued in 100? for example. But the same album in a support like a CD will be valued in something like 10?-5? , right ?
The vynil disc market is like a "cult".
Many people still keep them even though there's a lot of new technology around (MP3,Blue Ray,CD,DVD,etc).
PT wrote on 30.01.2010 at 14:21
it has no meaning at all of re-releasing the amaranth single. this band has made the dark passion play their most commercial album thinking of the fact that it has come out in hundred of editions with no specific difference of each one of them. it seems like everything's happening for the sake of money but that doesn't make it worthy, i guess that worthiness exists in the simple things and not in the re-release of a hundred times of a disc or whatever!
i'm wondering who will ever buy all those re-releases of dpp and amaranth etc! (i guess that you need to have a fortune beside you to buy all those things :P)
mar wrote on 30.01.2010 at 14:59

Yes,you're right. But the point is,that all these "collector's items" are released just for the reason you said:their rising profit.
Even a release that is called "limited edition",but contains some extras can be considered sometimes useless,if these extras are just demos or anything like that.
BUT a release with nothing extra PLUS a vinyl in the shape of a flower,is much worse.
I've seen many useless,profit-only collector's edition releases,but this flower-shape is the top.

And even it the band has nothing to do with all these re-realeases, it's pointless to buy the same thing at a different version.
As for "While Your Lips Are Still Red" I believe is Nightwish best moment since 2007. Tuomas poetic skills are at its best & Marco's divine voice is simply amazing.

Did you say KINGDOM HEARTS? 1 or 2?
Nothing is more awesome than seeing Disney characters beat the ever-loving crap out of the Heartless. Who knew Mickey Mouse could be so badass and have a serious conversation with a character played by Christopher Lee?
Hmmm...Tuomas is a big Disney fan... I wonder what he would think of KH.
I also wonder what he thought when Disney banned Nightwish and all other metal acts from playing in the House of Blues in Anaheim and THEN have the gall to make a Hannah Montana style sitcom making fun of the genre. Those bastards...
Blaze wrote on 31.01.2010 at 03:19

Yes, Kingdom Hearts 1. I have KH2, too. They are wonderful games, I must say. :) I just closed the Keyhole in Hollow Bastion and now I'm heading to the Hades Cup to level up Sora, Donald and Goofy.
I think Tuomas would like those games since he is a big Disney fan. Before I discovered Kingdom Hearts games I played Final Fantasies. I still play them, today I started to play FFX. Again. :]
About the House of Blues, well, I was quite surprised when I heard the reason why they cancelled Nightwish's gig. It sounded like they didn't even bothered to find out what kind of music Nightwish really plays. They simply judged them after hearing they play metal, which is not even pure metal. I think they should listen to FantasMic. :D
Where are you from, Blaze? :)
Minea wrote on 31.01.2010 at 16:58
@ Minea
California, about an hour's drive from Anaheim. I have seen Nightwish, Tarja, SA, and H.I.M. when they come around here.
To be fair, the whole Disney ban on metal didn't begin with NW. The whole affair started in Sept. 2007, two months before NW was scheduled to play in Anaheim. Machine Head and The Faceless were forced to make a last minute venue change due to a sudden call from Disney that they were not allowed to play due to "undesirable fans." You read that right. That soon expanded to all metal bands, including NW.
Blaze wrote on 01.02.2010 at 00:00
I'm from California, about an hour's drive from Anaheim. GO ANGELS!
The whole Disney ban on metal was a blanket statement that started with Machine Head and the Faceless. I can't believe that they could file NW under this stereotype for fear of attracting "undesirable fans."
C'mon, Disney! It's not like NW has fans that fit that description...except for the ones that write stories about Emppu and Princess...uh...never mind...
Anyway, make sure you have Aeroga before taking on Hades in KH. It'll be a big help.

Singing techniques (bigger LOL) maybe?...
One of the people in her blog asked her whether it will be an autobiography...
Honestly...WTF?
I can imagine how an autobiography by her will be...About 20 chapters of how she tried all those years to become famous, how evil people were trying to change her(people like music teachers, music companies...) and of course, how all these narrow-minded metalheads stopped her from becoming famous because they 1) don't accept females in rock/metal(yeah,that's why they all now love Floor,Tarja and Angela) and 2)don't accept pop singers in metal(wow, what douchebags...)
And maybe one chapter about Nightwish.
Something like her official biography.

Thank you,i didn't exactly remember the number.
So far,we have:
1 manager
1 personal trainer
1 life coach
1 personal assistant
3 composers
Total:7 persons for doing for her...Nothing she can't do by herself.
I know working mothers that have a job that requires from them to work 8-10 hours a day, they have kids to raise,a house to keep,a husband(since finding a man that does his own laundry and cooks for himself is vary rare-and i thank God that i have found one that he doesn't need his mother or a wife to take care of him),they go shopping, they go to the gym, they go out with their friends...
And they do all that...But themselves!
Now,i may be too narrow-minded,but i would really like to know how a person that doesn't have a regular job, doesn't need to be anywhere else all day,and they only obligation she has is to pick her son from school, needs all these people.
Legeon wrote on 01.02.2010 at 15:56

This is what I do quite often, actually,
- I hire three composers, I pay them nice wagies, off course, because they are not CHEAP - they have cooperated with Madonna, Celine Dione and such, after all
we spend one month by doing a CD and then
I just keep it for myself, for fun, as you say.
LOL.
That is completely normal thing to do. I have about 6 such CDs at home. We listen to them when party.
Next month I plan to hire guys who were cooperating with Justin Timberlake and do another CD. I like the Timbaland style lately.

And now that we now she is doing it just for fun they shout "yeah, sure, we all could hire three expensive composers and make an album just for fun!".
Quite interesting.
Well, the best way to deal with these hardcore-whiners is to ignore them. ^^
I'm very interested to hear what kind of music these three composers have composed for Anette's lyrics. If we don't ever hear the results, it's not that big problem. She does what she wants and it's ok for me. :)

We saw again that it's impossible to make Anette's hardcore fanatics ever question anything she does, however blatantly retarded it may be. Like, have her fans help her with writing her book - and then what? Cash all the profit in for herself, while the "ghostwriters" get nothing? LOL. I can already see that coming. Oh well, it's not as if her blind admirers deserved any better. Teenagers are so fucked up nowadays.
And ... lolwut? First she aggressively promotes her new album and takes care to make her fans almost forget that little band that propelled her into stardom, now the puss runs off with her tail between her legs? The bitch should grow (the female equivalent of) balls, a brain, a backbone, a heart, work ethics and a basic sense of decency (she makes herself look far uglier than she would even have to). She's so fake and whiny, she makes Paris Hilton appear like Sabina Classen. I bet she played "My Little Phony" when she was little and invented emo. She's so dumb, she makes George W. Bush and Forrest Gump facepalm in tandem on a daily basis.
A court jester's antics are boring as dust in comparison. But Tuomas, Marco, Jukka and Emppu deserve every fibre of her; it seems that with her solo disc canned, she plans to stay with the band to boldly go where no metal band has gone before and run from new low to low. Never forget, it's always possible to beat a low level, and that's the only thing that Anette is a master at.
Oh, and back on topic, poor Tuomas and Jukka are always pressured by Nuclear Blast to do stupid commercial crap they hate and have accused other people for doing. And Blast always gets the whole profit. ROTFL. Cry me a freaking river with a sausage raft to float home on.

And now that we now she is doing it just for fun they shout "yeah, sure, we all could hire three expensive composers and make an album just for fun!"."
Oh, come off it now. They're just looking out for the well being of Anette's fans. Imagine how many people are going to be disappointed because Anette promised them this treasure and then decided that she wasn't going to release it after all. Just think about it. She caused many people to worry when she announced her solo album, spent all of that time defending and promoting it, hired three people to help her write and produce it, spent money for the studio time, recorded everything, and after all of that trouble she is NOW deciding whether she wants to release it or not?
Usually these decisions are made... I don't know... BEFORE all of that time and money is wasted. And you're wondering why people are irked about this? Come on, I know you're smarter than this...
------------------------
On a more relevant note: The fact that this new release isn't even featured in the news section of Nightwish's official site probably says a lot about it. It's useless in my opinion, though I'm sure there are people out there who would love it and buy it so it can't be a complete and total waste. Just another thing to make money while the band is on break.

"The Gauntlet: Are there any guest vocalists like in the past?
Rudolf: Yes. One woman named Tarja [Turunen]. She is the old woman from a band called Nightwish. She is on the song "The Good Die Young".
The Gauntlet: I don't think she is an old woman though.
Rudolf: What! [laughs] No a young woman. I meant she was the old or last singer from the band [laughs]. Sorry. I should say former singer!"
well, maybe not such a good thing, dunno...

Now it's clear for me that Anette is a very instable person, with lots of problems... she has a pathological need of attention/affection, and she uses her special status to gain some. Well, I don't want to be sorry for her, but usually people who have that kind of psychological profiles can't be happy in life, they can't really connect with people. Shallow persons can behave this way, just like those that suffered love deficiency in their childwood, and there are billions on Earth.

My dog - a shi-tzu - actually thinks about recording a CD, too. Not to RELEASE it, off course, just for FUN.
Few months ago he has adopted 3 puppies in Haiti, BTW and I should say I am so proud of him! He pays them 66 Euros monthly to support them.
He also came with an idea that his toys are way too many and suggested to rent an outside storage unit for them. So we pay monthly 150 Euros for an external storage... but he was SO right - there is much more space on the floor!
You must admit that my dog is very empathic, sophisticated and beautiful (photos are in Hot pets available).
He truly likes to help people as well as far as he has a good heart.
This is why I am thinking about hiring him some nice team of composers and producers to help him with the CD.
Well, it could cost maybe more then 100.000 Euros ... but what would you not do to see your only pet healthy and happy?

Isabell wrote on 02.02.2010 at 15:50
Ok Mermaid, please do feel free to make fun of me, with my theories, or opinions.
I respect Tuomas as a songwriter. I don't care if he is nice or not, if he offended Tarja or not, if he gets money or not, where he lives, what he eats, who he likes, what he says, if you call him Maestro or Tuomass, or the oceansoul, or any other ridiculous names. I dont care. My theory is, I dont care about people that I dont know, dont want to meet, and probable will never meet. I care about Music, and he has written good music.
Same theory applies to Tarja and Anette. I dont care if Anette is fat, and Tarja is a greedy diva. And if they are not...good for them! I like both voices, because my theory says that both classical trained voices, and popular voices can sound good. And Anette has a good voice in my opinion. Really dont care about people who dont like Anette. I dont know her, she is not my friend, and I doubt she will become one. Also, I hate her blog, read it once, found it boring, never will read it again.
I dont care about the infamous letter, because I never read it. Maybe one day I will, but I am not really interested in knowing why was Tarja fired. Its their problem. My theory: Singers get fired, as well as guitar players, bass players, etc. I dont care if it was elegant or not how they did it. It was a very long time ago, and Tarja didn't come crying to me. So I dont care.
So yes, my theory is: I only care about the people I know. Nightwish is just one band, in a world filled with thousands of bands.
Yes, call me stupid and ignorant for liking Anette, say I am deaf, That I dont know anything about music, call me a blind tuomas fan girl, say I have no taste, adore princess, probably have a very low IQ, live in my small fantasy world, have to wake up and see the truth, and that you are the only one who knows it. If it amuses you to insult me, or say my opinion is bullshit I DONT CARE. And if the only thing you want to do here is insult "Princess" and "Maestro" then have fun and enjoy it.

It depends what you mean by living in the world of Final Fantasy. When I play a FF games, of course I step in the world of it. It's part of gaming, to experience what the characters expereince. To feel what the characters feel. It's like watching movie but you decide what's going to happen next.
It also depends which world of Final Fantasies you mean. Is it Final Fantasy VII (The Planet)? Or Final Fantasy X (Spira)? Or Final Fantasy XII (Ivalice)? Or upcoming Final Fantasy XIII (Pulse)? ;D
Btw, do you know anything about those games or do you just assume something fancy?

It's a tv programme where some Finnish singers gather a choir from their hometowns and then they train the choirs to sing one or two songs. Every week the people who watch the programme and vote for the worst performance and the choir who gets most of the votes will be eliminated.
Last year one choir performed Amaranth. The leader of the choir, Marion Rung, is a big Nightwish fan. :)

You have misunderstood some things.
People like us,that don't like Anette and Tuomas for certain reasons,DON'T think that if you like Anette you are deaf.
Or stupid.
At least you acknowledge that you don't care about their personalities and their lives, but only about music.
What we don't like,is when people start to attack us with their blindfolded double standards that only defend their precious singer.Which means, that no matter how badly she shows what she is,they will NEVER accept it.Plus, they call us "retards" when we try to explain.
But who said that we jump on every person that likes their music?Besides,i was a fanatic NW fan myself for many years-but the fact that i let my personal opinion for them ruin it for me,doesn't make me blatantly attack all their fans.
Only the ones that still insist on defending Anette with lines like "you can't compare them" but in the same comment, they also say "she has a more warm voice than Tarja".LOL.

Yep, that's the key. You try, but you fail miserably, every time.
When a person cannot defend his/her own point, in a discussion, yet he/she insist, to talk about it, over and over again, eventually it's starting to look ridiculous, and stupid. Therefore the "retards" label.
"Besides,i was a fanatic NW fan myself for many years"
Phahahahahahaha...ha...ha...ha...ha XD
That's a good one, I admit. A bit of humor, is always refreshing, in such serious conversation.
There is a proverb, and it goes like this:
" With friends like this, I don't need enemies" ,
which in the NW's case, can be translated to:
"With fans like this, we don't need haters"
So long. ;-)

I must say it's very entertaining to read any kind of comments about Anette. But, surprisingly, especially those "humor posts". And what makes it funny? Let's call it "malignancy", I don't have better word to describe it. Many fans make fun of the band members too, but it's usually benevolent. Same goes with fans of other bands and singers.
Every single singer and band has their fans and haters. The more famous band or singer, the more fans and haters. If the singer or the band is less known, they naturally have less haters. Usually they don't have many haters, maybe even zero. Who knows? Some famous singers and bands might have more haters than fans.
Remember Spice Girls and how much we heard from people that they don't like them at all? Still they had a lot of fans and they were very popular. I must admit I was their fan too, about a year. I think I was 7 or 8 years old. Ah well, my music taste has made some progress during these 12-13 years. :D
Anyways, I think it's only good that people have different opinions. What I don't always understand why some of them have to express them in a ridiculous way. To provoke? To make readers mad? To simply have fun with other peoples reactions? Or all of those reasons plus something else?
Those kind of people are beyond my comprehension. Maybe I just haven't experienced the cool feeling after sending a provoking message to duscussion board and reading the answers. Not that I would be interested.

This band is about edges:
Tuomas takes about 4 years to fully write and complete an album-but he RELEASES it at some point.
Anette takes about 7 days to fully write and complete an album-which she doesn't release!
But i think that no company wanted to release it,that's why it won't be released.
And i believe, that when she was talking about paths and a decision she made, she was talking about choosing not to release her album from paying it all by herself(artists do that when no company wants to release their album).
Ok,she maybe has many fans, but she doesn't have THAT many fans(no matter how badly they want to show that she is the most famous singer alive) and it won't be profitable to release an album that only few thousands(at best) of people will buy.

I admit that i still like most of their earlier songs. They are more...simple(in a way that they aren't loaded with these tons of polished symphonic parts) and more naive.More true.
Not because Tarja sings them,it's because they are more "genuine" Nigthwish. The early sound is pure Nightwish.
And i mean Angels Fall First,Oceanborn, and some from Wishmaster.
And of course,my all-time favorite,10th Man Down.
BUT,as i said,i have let my feelings and what i believe for them to affect my taste.Which means that, after all these things that i know and that i have realized about them,i can't listen to their music anymore. This band used a be a HUGE part of my life, and i lived every song and every verse for many years.
Realizing now that all these years they were pretending, and that all those feelings described in these songs are fake, repels me.

You have posted very interested songs here. What is this Final Fantasy about?
Andre wrote on 03.02.2010 at 21:17
@Legeon, 10th Man Down sounds more like uninspired stuff to me, ???, a matter of tastes I guess... so, to sum up you've been disillusioned about what they have become on a personal and artistic level......
I've read few of them, but Tuomas' lyrics seem immature and confused stuff, but anyway I don't care lyrics in general. On the other hand, I think Tuomas is really skilled to present his music in a catchy (and cashable) way, I don't know if it's fakeness or what but when inspiration has gone, I guess we can actually call it fakeness and mainstream symphonic crap. Still the beginnings were a blast, I agree, From Wishes to Eternity remains a breathless performance to me, AFF and Oceanborn very special albums, with a bunch of later songs..... strangely, what stroke me first about Nw wasn't their music, but the fact they had no ugly faces unlike many others in the metal scene I was used to, since then fortunately I've discovered they weren't just an exception.

it still IS Nightwish. It is not their fault that you idealized them in your eyes.
Look at the Princess blog and see what Princess´fans write there - they obviously are in love NOT with real Princess,
but with some IDEALIZED IMAGE of her.
You did the same - just sooner. :-))
Which is completely understandable and happenes often.
As for their CDs - the last one was really funny.... Maestro´s HEART stopped beating in the FIRST song!
When I heard that, I expected that in second song his liver would fail, in the third song lungs and in fourth kidneys ...
But instead that we had BYE, BYE .. and Cadence of her LAST breath.
I really hope it was Tarja´s last breath, after all, why not to kill "beautifull" and stop her suffering?
Can not wait for another album.
And when we talk about 1,5 year we still need to wait,
Andre
the fact that "he does not have to worry about when the next plane leaves." obviously does not effect Maestro´s productivity at all.
So, to sum it up, I am looking forward to hear the crackle of Maestro´s calcified arteries... on new album.

Someone here already corrected that Cadence of Her Last Breathe is about running away, not killing anyone. Or is it that easy to forget about corrections and live in your homemade fantasies?
And, BBB was bittersweet goodbyes. The song was originally a ballad but was changed to a bit harder song because of Marco's aggressive singing style.
What's funny is that when Nightwish had stopped perfoming BBB and thus living in the past, Tarja continued perfoming Enough. x)

Obviously you don't bother to read Tuomas' interviews. He has said many times that it's easier to compose when the tour is over and he can be a composer full-time. Not just in noisy tourbus or backstages. Or while sitting in the hotel room, tired and stressed and bored. A little bit imagination is useful. They maybe stopped playing BBB,but they didn't stop talking about her. So,why would she stop?
Besides,NW released BBB in 2007,but Tarja released Enough waaaay later. So,it's not weird that she didn't stop singing it;she had just released it.

No honey,it's easier for you to just accuse someone just because you don't agree.
I have been coming here for almost a year and i never saw this.Besides, you can't accuse someone's beliefs if this person hasn't seen the explanation.

well, even if Maestro himself came here to explain that, Andre,
I listened to that CD first time in year 2007. If I would know in 2007 that in 2009 Maestro would come and explain me how should I understand the lyrics,
I would understood it differently.
Unfortunately I did not see the future. You do?
Legeon,
I mentioned here once the LAST breath issue and explained to "somebody" that LAST BREATH means the one before a person dies.
And that "somebody" answered "well, we do not know for sure whether that person died"
So, this is what is Andre most probably reffering to. But, unfortunately, LAST BREATH is THE LAST breath, the one you take before you die.
So, Andre,
are you going to accept that LAST BREATH is believed to be the very LAST by many nations and cultures for thousands of years (Egypt)
or do you preffer to live in your homemade fantasies?

It's very popular J-RPG series. J-RPG means "Japanese role-playing game". :)
And about upcoming FFXIII, well, this synopsis tells everything:
"Cocoon ? a utopia in the sky.
Its inhabitants believed their world a paradise.
Under the Sanctum's rule, Cocoon had long known peace and prosperity.
Nurtured by their benevolent protectors, the fal?Cie, humankind came to believe that these tranquil days would continue forever.
But the discovery of a single hostile fal?Cie changed everything.
The moment that fal'Cie from Pulse ? the feared and detested lowerworld ? awoke from its slumber, peace on Cocoon came to an end.
Fal'Cie brand humans, transforming them into magic-wielding servants.
They become l'Cie ? the fal?Cie?s chosen.
Those branded with the mark of the l'Cie must either do their master?s bidding or face a fate far worse than death.
A prayer for redemption...
A wish to protect the world...
A promise to challenge destiny...
After thirteen days, the intertwining fates of a chosen few will lead them to battle. A battle for the future."

@legeon: I totally agree. Blaming Tarja for releasing Enough on a special edition of MWS and still playing it live - considering NW published the letter, released BBB not only as a song on the album (not to forget about MPG, by the way) but also as a single and played it live for more than a year - is incredibly pointless. But I see that just the fact that after all that time they stopped playing it in their show makes up for everything else for their fans present here, and therefore it's silly and mean of Tarja to continue playing Enough. But no double standards!

My point was quite different compared to what you people have interpreted. See, I remember after arriving MFF and starting reading news I read a lot of post that included argument like "Nw is was still living in the past because they were perfoming BBB. Tarja is not living in the past anymore". I couldn't believe my eyes, that kind of argument in just useless. Mine was a joke. Yes, a JOKE, as could see if you noticed the smiley. ;)
****************************
I heard from a Finnish fan that Dark Passion Play album has sold 150 000 copies in Finland. It crossed the limit on this week. Thus it has sold five times platium. Yay! o/
Apparently it hasn't been told in English news page but in Finnish news page (my Finnish is quite poor but I trust my "comrade"): http://www.nightwish.com/fi/news/

If you were referring to old comments on other threads, why didn't you write there, or - if you thought nobody was gonna read it - at least pointed that out here? You were the first person who brought that thing up here. We can't read your thoughts and therefore find out what you're referring to if you don't tell us. And even though of course I don't know what comment exactly you're talking about, usually the argument didn't go "Nw is was still living in the past because they were perfoming BBB." It included other reasons, such as comparing Tarja and Anette in interviews, calling Anette "our new singer" after about two years, joking about the letter etc. - but I won't look for them now. It's a thing of the past, at least for the moment.
You, on the other hand, blamed Tarja for keeping on singing "Enough" in her shows for half a year. Singing a song that isn't even as well-known or popular as BBB, and was included in her shows later than BBB in NW's for half a year more makes her "living in the past", after years of silence, and after so much provocation! Honestly, don't you see how pointless that is? Not to mention that the tour is over and you're a bit late to point that out.
But you say it's a joke - then I guess we have a different kind of humor, for I still can't see what's so funny about that comment. And as for the smiley, there are people on the internet who write smileys after almost everything they type, and it can mean everything from "I'm just kidding" to "Now you don't know what to say, right?". You put a smiley after your declaration that it was a joke, too, doesn't mean you want to say it wasn't a joke after all, though. At least I hope so ;) And I believe you weren't completely ironic. Legeon, on the other hand, was (when she wrote to mermaid about this) , so if you say that you agree with her I'll admit I misunderstood you and take everything back! ;).
And I think it's kind of ironic that you are talking about "living in the past" as a bad thing, but at the same time write about some random comments that were written months ago. As you see, we didn't write about "living in the past" on this thread, simply because NW did nothing to provoke such a comment here (oh, well, they have media silence, so of course it's kind of difficult :D).
Oh, I see I didn't comment on the news yet! But I still can't come up with something that's more intelligent than "available as WHAT?!" and "lol" so I guess it's better if I stop now...^^
Earwen wrote on 05.02.2010 at 23:46
Oh, about the five times Platinum: I don't know much about these "awards" (can't come up with the right word now), but if I'm right, in Germany you get "Gold" ("Goldene Schallplatte") when you sell 100.000 copies.
Therefore, I'm a bit surprised. Is it true that in Finland 150.000 sold copies make five times platinum?
Earwen wrote on 05.02.2010 at 23:51
@ Earwen
Yes, it's true. Artist whose album sells 30.000 copies in Finland gets platium. So 150.000 sold copies means five times platium.
Minea wrote on 06.02.2010 at 01:04
What makes this five times platium more funny is that if Nw's next album doesn't sell six times platium, (at least) the Finnish press will claim it is a flop. :'D We all know that many of those people who have bought DPP have done it just because they have been curious about who the heck this Anette is and what does she sound like. Those who are truly interested in the band and their music will buy the next album. Those who did not find anything interesting won't. It's as simple as that. :D
Minea wrote on 06.02.2010 at 12:59
People should know that sales don't count as "how many albums people bought".
They count as "whole sales".Which means, how many copies each store ordered, not how many albums people bought.
Legeon wrote on 06.02.2010 at 16:50

That doesn't make this less good thing. If stores have to order albums it means that people are buying it. :)

Not necessarily. Most of these stores buy big amounts of albums to have stock. That doesn't mean that people buy all of these 150.000 albums.

Btw, when talking about selling numbers, we had this Popstars tv programme in 2004 and the winner band named INDX "sold" over 34.000 copies which meant platium. In reality they didn't even sell gold. I've heard rumoirs about 500 sold copies but... Well, I don't know if it's true or not. But this is quite funny story anyway. :D

Actually talking like that about my words about what happened in my life, only makes you look stupid.
Do you want a serious symphonic metal band?Therion.
REAL symphonic metal with REAL classic elements (and not just some orchestral parts-direct copies from Hans Zimmer) and with REAL operatic voices(no matter how much i love Tarja,i don't think she will ever be as good as Lori Lewis).
Moreover,Therion is a band that progresses. They do REAL progress(for new NW fans, using a singer like Anette is progression...LOL),the reinvent themselves with every album and they don't try to become famous through scandals.
Two years ago, almost all Therion members(Kristian,Peter and Johan) left(or maybe were fired).Did you see any "open letter"?Did you see hundreds of interviews about that?
To sum up:
Therion were the first to use an orchestra, the first to combine metal with classical influences, the first to use sopranos and tenors(and good ones),and they do it with quality.
After hearing Therion,is pretty much impossible to appreciate NW music that much anymore.

It is somehow calculated from the market size (% of a market size)
That means that in Finland with (what?) 7 milions people you need just 30 ths pieces soldf to be platinum. The same number you have for all small nations - Belgium, Holland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Switzerland, etc..
In countries with more people is the market bigger, that is why the same % gives bigger number of copies to be sold.
I guess that to be platinum in USA does mean to sell more copies then in Germany.
I do not remember percentages for gold and platinum by heart. But obviously you need to sell more CDs to be platinum in Germany then you need in Finland - if I remember right, Germany has more inhabitants then Finland.
mermaid wrote on 08.02.2010 at 10:56
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platinum_album
"Music recording sales certification is a system of certifying that a music recording has shipped a certain number of copies.
Almost all countries follow variations of the RIAA certification categories, which are named after the precious materials gold, platinum and diamond (silver is also used in some countries). The number of sales required for these awards varies depending on the population of the territory in which the album is released. Normally they are awarded only to albums released at least nationally and are awarded individually for each country in which the album is sold. Additionally, different sales levels may exist for different music media, such as albums, singles, or videos.
Originally applied to LP records, certification is now most commonly awarded for compact disc sales. Certification is usually awarded cumulatively, and it is possible for a single album to be certified silver, gold, and platinum in turn. An album that becomes platinum at least twice over is said to be "multi platinum". Artists can also become multi-platinum sellers if they have at least two albums in the same territory both going single platinum?therefore meaning that they do not have an individual album selling these amounts.
History
The original Gold Record awards were presented to artists by their own record companies to publicize the achievement of 1,000,000 sales. The first of these was awarded by RCA to Glenn Miller in February 1942, celebrating 1,200,000 sales of "Chattanooga Choo Choo". Another example of a company award is the gold record awarded to Elvis Presley in 1956 for 1,000,000 sales of the single "Hound Dog". The first gold record for an LP was awarded by RCA to Harry Belafonte in 1957 for the album Calypso (1956), the first album to sell over 1,000,000 copies."

"Realizing now that all these years ....that all those feelings described in these songs are fake, repels me. "
Why the fact that feelings described in their songs are fake (or not) should bother anyone ?
Is a music about dragons , monsters, magic, etc more real ?
Making music is like making a script for a film.
Did George Lucas (with Star Wars) Steven Spielberg (with Jaws, Indiana Jones) or James Cameron (Terminator,Avatar) a bad job just because the stories are fake ?
The fact that you dont like NW anymore, because or their atittude towards former members, fans or Anette capabilities its ok for me. Its your opinion and i respect it, even though i dont agree everytime with them. But this argument is (and sorry for not finding another word)... crap.
Anybody can write a song about love without beeing in love. Whats the problem of that ? Its a matter of imagination, capability of transmitting feelings and putting it down in words. Its just a song not a judicial paper, it isnt a confession of anything, its just a song.
"REAL symphonic metal with REAL classic elements (and not just some orchestral parts-direct copies from Hans Zimmer) and with REAL operatic voices"
In my opinion NW is still symphonic in the instrumental part.
And as real classic elements.(still Tuomas is influenced by everything he ears, Zimmer didnt invent classical music also)
NW isnt operatic in the voice part anymore of course. Thats undeniable.
"for new NW fans, using a singer like Anette is progression"
-Its just a change of style. More "soft", more "melodic".
Some like it some dont. Respect is the key : respect towards people's opinions, and towards musicians choice of path.
"don't try to become famous through scandals"
-You are kidding right ? :)
When the "letter" was released NW was more famous then ever.
"Therion were the first to use an orchestra, the first to combine metal with classical influences, the first to use sopranos and tenors" :

Umm...WHAT?And then you say that my argument is crap.
Ok,i'll explain it with simple words.
Music expresses emotions.Movies are made for entertainment,no one made Star Wars for emotion.
Music,as i said,expresses emotion,has lyrics about emotions.
When you see a movie, you just see it.Especially fantasy movies. You don't have emotions, but even if you do,they last 2 hours max.
When you hear music, and especially your favorite band, you live the emotions through the lyrics.
So,when you see that these emotions are fake, you feel deceived.
"Anybody can write a song about love without beeing in love."
No honey.
"And as real classic elements."
NW have NO classic element.
"-Its just a change of style. More "soft", more "melodic"."
Change doesn't mean "progression".
DO I REALLY NEED TO EXPLAIN THIS?
"When the "letter" was released NW was more famous then ever. "
AFTER the letter was released NW was more famous than ever.
"Wagner was the first REAL metal composer. "
It's different to write classic music and ADD some rock or metal elements than writing metal music and ADDING classic elements.
Therion were the first to do that.
NW never was a true symphonic metal band. Some generic orchestral parts don't count as symphonic. At least not enough to make the whole music symphonic.

And I can tell you that sometimes it somehow CAME OUT of me ... and sometimes I just made it up.
If you are clever with words enough, people should not realize that you made it up.
But sometimes I had to write something ... according to a purchase order. And I should say that - hmm, when you created something because you have a NEED to do so, it is visible on the final product.
While when you create something based on order ... sometimes you can see that it was just a business - sometimes it is not that visible.
Long term wise you can tell who does do things because (s)he like to do them... and who is just manufacturing songs/poems/paintings/movies..
So, you are right - NW is just a band and their songs are just manufactured songs.

Yep, some people claim that Nw is still talking shit about Tarja (what is "shit talking" anyway? is there only one answer for that?) but I don't remember when the last time was. Maybe this is just a good example how differently fans and non-fans interpret written interviews. Written texts are the easiest ones to interpret "wrong" because readers can add any kind of "sound" to the text. Mostly that "sound" fits their own purposes, they don't even try to interpret it in neutral way. They already have their expectations when they start reading, which is only natural.
I have never seen any interview in which Nw member talks "shit" about Tarja or Marcelo. They have only talked about how they feel or how they see things, that's all. But, I'm a fan and of course I interpret written interview in a different way than a disappointed ex-fan. :P What makes it even more funny that some bad mouths say my kind of people are blind and can't see the truth. I'd dare say that none of us outsiders will never know the real truth. All we have are our beliefs and interpretations. Fighting is futile.

Legeon said "feelings behind Nw lyrics are fake" , I asked her why she thinks so. They do not look completely "fake" at my eyes esepcially considering that they are commong feelings everybody can have.
How can you know if someone feelings are fake? Unless you refer to some specific song.
Evol wrote on 09.02.2010 at 11:48
Mermaid,
do you call "silly" each stranger who doesn't agree with you? You don't seem to know what good manners are. Personally I'm not "silly" at all, so try to make an effort to understand what other people may want to say.
Evol wrote on 09.02.2010 at 11:58
Ok..This will be long.
Let's start.
@PT
"Maybe you "live the music" too much. "
Yes i do.I never said that others or you have to live it too much, and i also said that I let MY feelings get in the way.I never talked about anyone else.
"Does it make a difference to you ? "
Not at all.Label doesn't make any difference,as you said. And if really mattered to me,then i would only listen to symphonic metal.Which doesn't happen, because i mostly listen heavy metal(power,gothic,symphonic,epic-i am not saying that these are the only sub-genres of heavy metal, these are the ones that i listen) and some death metal.
I was only explaining why NW aren't true symphonic metal,to some people that insist that NW are the best and the original symphonic metal.
"I think nobody knew what kind of winds this event would bring."
You don't have to be an oracle to think that,if you publish a "yellow press type" letter on your official page, storms are coming.
@Minea
"I have never seen any interview in which Nw member talks "shit" about Tarja or Marcelo."
Calling a woman "diva" (in a bad sense) is shit talking.
@Evol
"Legeon, better to say "Who told you the feelings behind NW lyrics are FAKE"? "
No one has to tell me.It's pretty damn obvious. And i'm talking especially about the early albums.
Legeon wrote on 09.02.2010 at 12:26
No, Evol,
I call "silly" only people who actually are ... silly. And I do not need to try to understand you - I see already that you do not answer my simple question:
How is anybody´s friend related to this?
So, you do not know... pitty. Must be frustrating for you not to know what are you talking about ... and suddenly find out that you do NOT know what you did talk about.

@PT
"I think nobody knew what kind of winds this event would bring. Its 2010 and even now people "fight" over it. "
Oh, sorry, but how difficult is it to find out, that when you are a band that sold enough albums and singles to become No.1 in several media charts and got platinum and gold, and you fire your iconic singer through an open letter calling her a arrogant diva, there is going to be a huge media circus? If you think they couldn't know that, your opinion of them seems to be worse than mine, meaning I still think they had the intelligence to know about that. It's really something every child would find out, you know. Maybe they underestimated it a little, but that's all. They knew about it, and at the very least accepted - if not wanted -it. It was their decision to discuss everything in public, nobody else's.
"About "melodic" , its hard for me to explain because english isnt my 1st language. You can use erase it. I will stick to "soft". I tried to use synonymous but did a poor job picking words."
Well, I'm not a native speaker, too, I think few people here are :) But I do think I know the meaning of the word "melodic", and there's no way Anette's singing could be "more melodic" than Tarja's. But alright, I think we'll drop the subject.
Earwen wrote on 09.02.2010 at 14:21
Legeon,
it's not obvious at all!
What's so "fake" about a Beauty and the Beast or Elvenpath, or Wishmaster or Dead Boys Poem? Or Gethsemane?
Maybe you mean some are "fantasy based"
Evol wrote on 09.02.2010 at 14:35
@legeon:
Sorry, but I'm curious now. Why do you think NW's lyrics are fake, and why especially the older albums? Because I don't think they are, I think Tuomas really feels what he writes, only that much of it is full of self-pity, arrogant and pathetic. I think he's silly and over-dramatic (I guess this word doesn't exist, but you'll understand what I mean ;) ), but not actually lying.
And as for the older albums, I'm not really sure whether I want to know at all^^ I love the lyrics of e.g. "angels fall first", and I don't want them to be fake ;) . But still, if you have an explanation why they are, I'd like to hear it :)
Oh, and as for fantasy, I don't think you can say in general that there are no emotions in it, or no lasting emotions. I don't know if you ever read Tolkien's books - not only The Lord of the Rings, but also The Silmarillion etc. - but for me it's quite obvious that he put all of his heart in those stories. And I wouldn't call the emotions that are put in the film score "fake" - they may not be "real", but fake is the wrong word, they're not pretended, just imagined, if you get what I mean...I'm not sure whether this is clear enough to understand it :D I mean, when you're reading a book you have emotions too, and though those are different from the ones in the real world, they aren't fake, but, well, real in a different way ;)
Earwen wrote on 09.02.2010 at 14:41
I agree with Earwen.
In AFF there is not so much to call fake in my opinion. Honestly I think that not even the latest lyrics could be called fake, I'd call them overly dramatic .
Lyrics are probably the less fake thing in Nightwish.
Evol wrote on 09.02.2010 at 14:59
So, now, Evol,
based on what you have said - YOU ARE Maestro´s BEST FRIEND, so you KNOW that those songs are not FAKE?
You still did not explain how is this best friend thing related to knowing whether something is or is not fake... but have it your way...
:-))
So, how is Maestro doing? As his BEST FRIEND you certainly know what is he doing, where is he doing what is he doing, with whom is he doing what he is doing..
go ahead, tell us!

You are righ i meant that they knew a storm would come.
But it became a F5 tornado !
Lasting for 4 1/2 years and counting.
As you , i believe that underestimated the all thing.
Discussing everything in public, was a bold move but it was also unwise.
Nobody should do their laundry in public.
I dont know if Tarja was a diva or not, maybe her behavior wasnt the most correct one .
But her atittude afterwards , and i think almost everybody agrees , was the right one. [not doing their laundry in public].
ps: at least i dont recall any interview of Tarja doing it

Mermaid,
I don't have time to write ridiculous stuff to you. I think me and Earwen expressed ourselves very well.
I don't think a songwriter needs to write fake lyrics, especially when you start a band as an hobby. Everybody can write lyrics about general feelings, Tuomas is no exception . They do not need to be fake as real life is a major source of inspiration.
Evol wrote on 09.02.2010 at 16:23

"Calling a woman "diva" (in a bad sense) is shit talking."
I assume you found that word from a written interview. And it just proves what I wrote: a fan and an ex-fan interpret people's sayings in different ways. If you didn't actually see him saying that word, using angry sound and face, well, it's your interpretation. It's not the absolute truth. :)
And, I believe people take sometimes so called "shit talking" too seriously. Especially if it's on paper.
"Movies are made for entertainment,no one made Star Wars for emotion."
Oh, how much I disagree with this one. Movies are not made only for entertainment. They are also made to make people feel. I, for example cry every single time when I watch the end of "Finding Neverland". So does my boysfriend. And when we are watching a horror movie, we feel the same fear with the characters. I also feel happy when I have watched "Final Fantasy VII Advent Children". I don't know if I am just emotional and thus have a lot of feelings when watching any kind of movie.
But, all I can say is that movies are not just entertainment. :)

Cool rant, but you should address it all to PT,he is the one who mentioned fantasy films.
"Why do you think NW's lyrics are fake, and why especially the older albums?"
Because older albums talk about love and innocence. And the last person that has the right to talk about these lyrics is Tuomas.
Let me explain this.If you read lyrics about innocence, and then you see that all these years NO ONE was innocent and they all behaved like traitors, you feel deceived.
Legeon wrote on 09.02.2010 at 16:43

Your blindfolded fanaticism is really annoying.
When a person, says for a woman, that she thought she is better than all of them and she became a dive,HE IS MEANING IT IN A BAD WAY.
End of story.
You don't have to be "disappointed ex fan" to see that.
Or saying that a woman (who is NOT an opera prima dona of the 18th century) is a diva is actually a compliment?
Legeon wrote on 09.02.2010 at 18:14
Legeon,
Tuomas doesn't say in his lyrics that he is a innocent and good person, he says that he longs for being a good person because he isn't one. I think that's why he talks about "innocence" . He said that so many times.
In the first lyrics you don't really find the "innocence" element, they are more fantasy based.

"You don't have to be "disappointed ex fan" to see that."
Oh, even some of those who have never been fans disagree with you. Wich proves again: everybody have their own interpretations. There's not only one way to see things nor only one absolute truth. :)
"Because older albums talk about love and innocence. And the last person that has the right to talk about these lyrics is Tuomas."
Try to remember that he wrote the lyrics of first albums before events of 2005. Looong time before them. Obviously not all of them are telling about Tuomas' current personality.
And, the band has also a DVD named "End of Innocence". If you have seen it you should know that the band has not been innocent for a long time. In many ways.
@ mermaid
"And let Earwen be - she is talking sense."
Funny, because Evol just said she/he agrees with Earwen. So why? :'D
Minea wrote on 09.02.2010 at 22:34
@PT: Well, then I guess we ended our discussion quite fast :D I agree about the difference in NW's and Tarja's behavior, and that NW's was "unwise" (though that's a nice way to put it, and I surely wouldn't have used the word "bold") while Tarja's was correct. I guess we disagree about how much NW underestimated the media circus (cause I don't think they underestimated it *too* much) and about what they wanted to achieve by publishing the letter, but discussing that would lead quite far now, and I guess it's unnecessary. It was nice talking to you so far :)
@Minea: I admit I always cry at "Finding Neverland", too ;) I love that movie, may it be kitschy or not.
" If you didn't actually see him saying that word, using angry sound and face, well, it's your interpretation. It's not the absolute truth."
You forget that Tuomas called her a diva in the letter, in connection with arrogant, which he called a - if not the - reason why they couldn't work with her anymore. You have to agree he meant the word negative then. And if he uses the same word, talking about the same person, without ever having taken back what he wrote, you do not need to hate him to think that it is far more probable that he meant it in a negative way.
And in fact, whether he's angry or not saying that has nothing to do with it, considering the fact he didn't meet her for some years and his anger, at least his first anger, must be over. If he says it in a neutral way, it can be even worse, because the slander is more subtle then.
@legeon: "Cool rant, but you should address it all to PT,he is the one who mentioned fantasy films."
Well, but you said that those fantasy movies aren't made for emotions, and therefore I answered to you saying that in my opinion there are emotions in them, and that those aren't fake, but, well, imagined, as I explained (or tried to ;D). To me it seemed you think fantasy movies are like some commercial stuff that's made for two hours of entertainment only, and therefore I wanted to say that I disagree, but if I misunderstood you, I'm sorry. I know PT was the one who brought fantasy movies up, but since he wrote himself (or herself?) that just because they are about fantasy stories they aren't "fake", I agree with him on that point, so no need to answer.
"Because older albums talk about love and innocence. And the last person that has the right to talk about these lyrics is Tuomas.
Let me explain this.If you read lyrics about innocence, and then you see that all these years NO ONE was innocent and they all behaved like traitors, you feel deceived."
I think I understand better what you mean now, but I still don't agree completely. I know what you mean about that "deceived-feeling", I felt the same when I understood that all these lyrics about despair, lost love etc. seemed to be just self-pitiful, self-righteous and egoistic. But what I think is that Tuomas - even though he may talk in interviews about what a bad guy he is and how he hates himself - in fact thinks he's the good guy and right about all that. You can't do such a thing as publishing the letter if you don't at least convinced yourself you have the right to do it. Guess he's living in his own world with his own moral concepts. And that said, even though from our point of view the lyrics may be wrong, it's still what he felt. And therefore not fake, no matter how disgusting we can think they are.
And then, from "at the beginning" goes a bit far, don't you think? They weren't "traitors" yet when they recorded Angel's fall first, in my opinion ;)
@mermaid and evol: Thanks mermaid for saying I'm talking sense, and evol for agreeing with me - I don't really understand how both of you can think so but disagree with each other completely, but I'm flattered :D I guess mermaid thinks I'm talking sense while evol is not, and therefore he/she shouldn't include me in his comments, while evol, well, simply agrees with me on the movie thing, though I guess if we talked about other stuff we'd find a lot we disagree on. But then I admit I didn't read all the comments here or maybe someone used irony and I didn't get it, and so I may be wrong ;)
Earwen wrote on 10.02.2010 at 00:13
Earwen,
I think mermaid means that I'm not talking sense because I've been a bit more aggressive towards legeon, asking him/her rethorically if he/she was Tuomas' friend (to conclude the feelings behind his lyrics are fake).
I was agreeing with you about the lyrics. Now I see also Legeon's point.
"I felt the same when I understood that all these lyrics about despair, lost love etc. seemed to be just self-pitiful, self-righteous and egoistic. But what I think is that Tuomas - even though he may talk in interviews about what a bad guy he is and how he hates himself - in fact thinks he's the good guy and right about all that"
I *think* he exhagerates in interviews but he doesn't completely fake . Obviously a person like him has a certain self esteem and obviously he was convinced that the letter business was the right decision. At the same time he may realize that some of his actions/behavious, even if right or necessairy for him, hurt some other people and think that in the end he's not entirely a good person but an egoistic one.
That's just a theory of course.

"Legeon, who told you Nightwish lyrics are FAKE?
Are you Tuomas' best friend ?
Evol wrote on 09.02.2010 at 11:35"
And because Evol IS Maestro´s best friend (or maybe even a brother) he explained us what Maestro meant with his lyrics, what he thought, etc..
That is why I asked him not to be silly ... and that is why I did not understand why he mentioned you in his answer:
"Mermaid,

AND because I do not remember YOU to use this:

"Anybody can write a song about love without beeing in love. Whats the problem of that ? Its a matter of imagination, capability of transmitting feelings and putting it down in words. Its just a song not a judicial paper, it isnt a confession of anything, its just a song. "
_______________________________________
Well, this is not exactly true. You can make it up but there are LIMITS. You can not write a song about love if you have never been in love.
Yet you can write a song about love even if you are not in love at the moment - you have been in love already so you remember and you can use that experience in your poetry again.
It is NOT just a question of imagination - you need to EXPERIENCE feelings you try to write a poem about.
Otherwise you would sound FALSE (we say "FLAT"). It is not a coincidence that greatest artists had a very turbulent lifes... not so many tax officers between them, huh?
If you listen to HIM´s Dark light you know Vile Valo was in LOVE. You do not need to understand english at all. When you listen to his Venus Doom, you know he is not in love anymore ...and whatever happened, happened in a very nasty and sad way.
You do not need to dissect his lyrics to find out.
As for Maestro - well, he liked cartoons. That is it.
No dissection of his lyrics will help you there.
Actually, I have read some "analyses" of my poetry... and had NO IDEA what those people were talking about. LOL

Yes, a theory, and therefore nothing that we can really discuss, but I have to say that, if in fact he realizes some of his actions are wrong, that doesn't seem to keep him from going on with that stuff at all.Example: talking about how mean it was of him that he didn't say Sami in his face he was fired, an then doing it in an even worse way with Tarja. Because of such things, I doubt he really realizes or regrets much.
@mermaid: "But maybe i am wrong (I did not read comments which are way too long and/or boring)
and maybe you pretented to be Maestro´s sister or girlfriend, too. "
Oh, damn, mermaid!Did you have to say that?! *runs to the bath room*
Just kidding ;) But I didn't write that you agreed with me, only that I think it's funny that you think I'm talking sense and evol agrees with me but at the same time you and he/she "fight". I can understand that better now. I admit I wasn't making myself very clear, though, and that my sentence about that might as well be understood that way.
@legeon: "I seriously don't get why you people NEED to understand why i feel this way. "
Uhm...sorry, but if I remember correctly, you wrote that it's "pretty damn obvious" that the emotions behind NW's lyrics are fake. You didn't only write that they don't seem authentic to you. Calling something "pretty damn obvious" to me is treating it as a fact. And if you treat something as a fact that I disagree on, isn't it quite natural that I ask you for an explanation, especially when you're someone who I don't think would write such a thing without reasons?
If you had only written that you don't believe these lyrics, I would have understood that you don't want to discuss it, but even then, I might have asked why you think so and a simple "I don't want to talk about it" or "I can't explain it, it's just personal taste" would've been enough instead of acting like if I was impolitely asking about things that are nothing to me. Saying things like "noone forced you to understand it" seems quite impolite to me.I like exchanging and discussing opinions with other people, it's one of the reasons I'm here, and so what? And by the way, I do discuss religion with other people, and I think it's interesting to find out why somebody thinks something that's different from my opinion. Of course you don't have to do so as well, but it's not a crime nor completely absurd.

Whenever someone cursed, she sent us to the toilet where we had to open the lid - face down into the toilet and then she said:
- Ok, so say all the cursing words you ever can come up with until there are no left. Then you can get back to the class room!
Followed by a pic of a toilet!...

But we also have these schools for kids who have problems to adopt to a normal society. And they are not always put there by a court.... though majority of them yes. So maybe this was a case with Princess.
And obviously she did not get any qualiffication ... whatever the school was about..
Interesting. But not THAT much. OK, she did not behave properly when kid. Big deal.

Here is the link: http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e246/susitar/Nightwish/Lehtijuttuja/Lehdet%2010/ss.jpg
And here is the translation:
- Earthquakes
- Bombings
- Turus sorrow ("Turus" is shorter version for Tarja's family name and is used sometimes in spoken Finnish. It's very common for family names that end with -nen, like Jukka's ("Nevalais"), Tuomas's ("Holopais") and Emppu's ("Vuoris").)
- Avian influenza
- Famine
Under the picture:
"That 'Naivitsi' case is the most shocking news in a long time!"
"Vitsi" means "joke".
I somehow agree with the guy who drew the cartoon. :P

"Like I said already, I'm going to do it when I have more money. Right now I spent my money for studying and when I have a good education and a job I will support charity. "
Like I explained you already (and obviously with no effect), you can help people who need that with your own HANDS - you do not need MONEY to do that. WORK. Do you know the word?
I help other people since my 15 years, as I explained you already.
I am not going to tell you what you could do for people in your own community - for kids in orphanage, for ill people, for old people, for mentally or physically dissabled people, because
I do not believe that you REALLY want to help people. I just think that you use your "not having money" as an excuse for doing nothing.
"And have you decided to work with kids or with old/dissabled people?
Interesting, where did this come from?"
I actually do not believe that you live in a community where everybody is healthy, young and happy, so NOBODY NEEDS YOUR HELP.
Or are you going to pretend now that you live in a heaven? And the only people who need a help are those who live in Haiti?
and the last one:
"I thought we all have the same right to write here and tell what we think. "
Yes, you have the right to write here. I never said anything else.
But.
You also have a right to receive a feedback on what are you writing here.

DO tell ME. I needed to explain Minea AGAIN what I DID already. But I do not think she is so stupid or with such a short memory.
I think she is just way too lazy to actually go and to DO something for people who NEED to be helped.
She preffers to sit and write here this noble blabbing about how charity is important and how is she (in NOT specified FUTURE) going to save the world.
Pharisee, as oh so many.
Actually, whenever I read her comments I always ended up frustrated - she talks a lot but says nothing. It is just a blabbing meant to impress, to show how extremely is she tolerant, understanding, developed, ... simply unbelievably adorable.
Though, I do not understand why she simply does not say: "People I am so ADORABLE and GROWN UP and INTELLIGENT, etc."
It would save me a lot of time. And to many people, too.
I use to come here for a long time, but Minea is with no doubts THE MOST BORING person EVER.
If she would not say she is 19, I will guess she is 9.

Actually, Minea,
now, when we run AGAIN the same conversation we did run already, it reminds me about one thing we discussed already, too.
I forgot to ask you: did you explain to Haiti goverment how rude is to talk about "selling kids"?
For the rest of you: Minea told me that it is rude to use words " buy a kid" on the other thread - the same where we talked about a charity.
When I watched TV and they did talk about Haiti SELLING their kids,
I did think about you, Minea, and I wanted to ask:
Is it rude only when I am talking about it?
Or is it rude when Haiti does that, too?
And did you tell them that TALKING about that is RUDE ..
and they should sell their kids WITHOUT talking about it?
What Haiti government did tell you?
THAT might be interesting....

NOT!
Minea, this cartoon is stupid. It seems that Finns are more eager to laugh at Tarja(who was the one that did nothing) than to actually put on some sarcasm about Tuomas and his superficial suicidal tendencies.
Lame.
I don't FUCKING CARE if this has been a huge deal in your country,it's unethical-to say the least-to mention Tarja's family name, especially since was the one betrayed. Why didn't this person use Tuomas' name?
Oh,i forgot.No-one touches Tuomas,Finland's super-hero and driving force behind that BIG productive machine called Nightwish.

Y'know, I have been in school too. But they don't teach there how to get rid of dyslexia, unfortunately.
"ALL your comments are boring. On the other hand, I did not say that ALL your comments are long. Those, which are long I do not read anymore, because they are well ... boring."
Aha. So? You thought I actually cared what you think about me or my posts? Nope.
I might be boring but your posts never surprise, either. And no, I don't think you care about what I think about you or your posts.
"The main point of your surprisingly short commment was that you had nothing to do so you needed to atrack attention. My attention, obviously."
Sorry to tell you but I'm the one who knows what the point is in my posts. ;)
"Like I explained you already (and obviously with no effect), you can help people who need that with your own HANDS - you do not need MONEY to do that. WORK. Do you know the word?
I help other people since my 15 years, as I explained you already."
Let me remind you: I'm STUDYING. My day starts at 6.45am and ends at 6.30pm when I come home from the school. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays it ends at 8pm. So, when do I have time to help? At weekends? Nope, I read test books.
My plan: to get good education and good job and after that I have time and money to help. Takes time but is worth it.
"I do not believe that you REALLY want to help people. I just think that you use your "not having money" as an excuse for doing nothing."
Nice accusation but no explaining why you think like this.
"I actually do not believe that you live in a community where everybody is healthy, young and happy, so NOBODY NEEDS YOUR HELP."
I live in the third largest city of Finland, Tampere, in a large suburb of Hervanta. To learn more, read Wikipedia.
"Or are you going to pretend now that you live in a heaven? And the only people who need a help are those who live in Haiti?"
Geez. GEEZ. You should know that there is no heaven on Earth. I know that already.
"Yes, you have the right to write here. I never said anything else.
But.
You also have a right to receive a feedback on what are you writing here."
Your way to give feedback is rude. Yes, RUDE. No one wants to get that kind of feedback.
And when people criticize your posts, you write a cheeky answer. Is that better? Is that mature?
I said to you: "Here we see again that you don't focus on what you read". That was a feedback to you and you started this discussion instead of writing something about what I said to you. I must admit I was very surprised.
"do you know even LESS funny jokes, then the one you talked about?
Or is this your "the best one"?"
I don't find the word "funny" from my post. Do you? Did I express that laughed? No.
As you read, I translated everything in the cartoon and didn't highlight anything.
But let's make this clear: the guy who drew the cartoon criticized the fact that Tarja's firing had become huge news. Too huge. And I agree with him. That was the point in the last sentence. And the whole post.
Yep, it had nothing to do with this topic but neither does your posts about Anette's blog. Or your "best off". So, who cares? :D

"Minea,this cartoon is stupid"
Is it? It's about Tarja's firing getting huge news and it does not laugh at any certain person. It mentions Tarja's name just because she was the one who got fired and her name was the one that was filling the main titles. That's all. Nothing more, nothing less.
And, as you read, the guy in the cartoon mentions Nightwish's name (or "Naitvitsi" or "Nightjoke"). Not Tarja's. Thus it's Nw's name that is highlighted.
Or is this just my interpretation made by "blindfolded fanaticism"?
You know, I'm in a journalist course right now and in the beginning of the studies we interpreted a lot of this kind of cartoons (one was about Finnish Audi boss who had compared cars to women). Usually they hide a lot of stuff and you need to "take apart" the pieces of the picture. But first, and this is the most important part, you have to set your mind to neutral. If you have any kind of attitude towards the subject of the picture you will surely interpret it in a way that fits your own opinions. In the end, the "true" meaning of the picture might be wrong. And what is the true meaning? Mostly the one that the person who drew the picture was thinking about. Of course people can have different opinions about this one.
No, I'm not saying that my interpretation is the only right one.
Congrats if you managed to read every single word of this post.
Minea wrote on 11.02.2010 at 21:33
Don't worry, Minea. In my opinion you are the one who is talking sense here and who is the one who is trying to bring your thoughts and discuss about them. Earwen seems to be a nice lady too, she doesn't pick on people. :)
Even though I'm not a fan of Nightwish their music interests me. I haven't bought any of their albums yet but I'm planning to do so. I really don't care what happened in the past. That time is gone and people should move on. I'm not saying they should forget or forgive anyone. The letter and the firing don't concern us. If it's true that Tuomas wants to have a long discussion with Tarja in the future, well, I hope it will happen. :)
I will leave you alone now so that you can continue your meaningless fight against Minea. ;P

"Sorry to tell you but I'm the one who knows what the point is in my posts. ;) " - then why are you bothering with them other people? keep them for yourself.
"Let me remind you: I'm STUDYING. "
I was also studying. And as I explained you (Oh, God, how many times? twice?)
I am twice GRADUATED. So I was studying for MANY YEARS. And I have worked since 19. As explained to you, twice. And?
I am actually thinking about doing the law studies, too, because I still have to work with it in my job.
Either you are the worst student in the universe... or/and you are just VERY lazy.
Though, as far as you really need to be explained SO MANY TIMES... hmm. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, are you?
But that is not the point. I guess that many people coming here never did anything for other people, too. We did not talk about charity here untill YOU CAME to LECTURE other people on ETHICS.
And nobody except of you does pretend to be saint.

Yet, you must study journalism in Finland to miss Haiti news, I guess.
Legeon,
the reason for the cartoon is obvious - Minea has finally LEARNED something,

Observer, you are SO right... I did read cartoons in a wrong way ALL my life! 29 years of doing it in a wrong way, can you imagine that??
It is GOOD that now we have Minea to tell us, how to do this PROPERLY.
Fortunately, I do not read cartoons at all, so the damage is not THAt BIG.
"29 years old woman writing meaningless post after more meaningless one, I haven't seen in my entire life anything more mature"..
You have got this one wrong - I do NOT compete here in "being mature", Observer. It is Minea, who is trying to look like very MATURE person, not ME. You have mistaken us.

So, for what do you all use this being "mature" except of typing about it here? And accusing other people of "not being mature"? (I guess this one makes you happy, so that would be a reason)

I worked to pay my studies and I earned enough money (well, I received stipendium as well) to be able to travel (when 21 - I spent all summer by travelling through Europe with friends. We slept in parks and so... but I visited all big cities in Europe.
Yet, since I was 15, I always did do some kind of social work.
And everybody I knew does the same, so I am NO exception. My students did exactly the same. Now they are studying abroad, but they work to pay their bills and majority of them does some kind of charity.
Well, you say you are 19, yet you do not work and you never did anything for anybody. That is TRULY amazing.
You are the most lazy person I have ever heard about. And your excuse is: "studying journalism" o-la-la ! - which is obviously not very difficult study. So, you are not very clever either.
Lazy and not very smart - you do not need to plan what to do with money you one day will earn. You will be lucky to get any job at all.

littel Isabell told us:
"omg REALLY, twice gradueted!:o i'm so impressed and you are still alive. i'm happy it didn't kill you. 5 years it's a looong time, not everybody can hold it. You are my hero.
And you help people. I want to be like you in future. *tears* "
Well, for a ten yesr old girld 5 ears (one Universitystudies) are a half of her life. So, I can imagine that it seems to you that I spent all y&our life studying... but in relaity I have studied my second University only 3 years - I managed to do all exams for 1, 2 and 3rd grade in one year.
So, I have studied only 8 years, for you it is still a LOT of time, but when you will be older you will see it differently.
"HAHHAH laugh my ass off (or should i cry?) you are pathetic, you know. "
It is not matter of "being pathetic" - it is a matter of a law. Work of children is NOT legal - ask some adult person whom you can talk to. You obviously need to ask for a help - your parents have no right to deal with you like this.
mermaid wrote on 15.02.2010 at 10:20
Well, Isabell worte one more:
"Should i remind you that it was you (one of first) who wrote about Anette's teenage behaviour and mind. That's she's so immature in her 38.
It's nice to hear that you don't have to be mature->responsible in you live and don't even want to."
I have never ever use a word "immature" - we use it only when we talk about some sorts of cheese. Princess is NOT a cheese, so I certainly did not use that word.
And I may assure you that adults do not use this word at all - I guess that it is some teenage thing. Yesterday I saw one old "Zack and Cody suit life" show - and they were solving this - but they were 12! (well, two years older they you)
So, yes, you should REMIND me WHERE and WHEN EXACTLY have you seen ME using word "immature"? I did not describe Princess´ "behavior" as "teenage", too, by the way. Neither here, nor in forum.
I am absolutely certain of that. I DID teach teenagers and my students were completely normal, smart, charming and responsible. Unlike Princess. So I see no reason to flatter Princess like that and I am sure I NEVER did.
Responsibility is something else - I always had a lot of it. You have mistaken me with Minea, in here. She is the one who has none.

Actually, I am not a Princess who asked her fans to send her gifts. You would better save your money - it is anyway a SHAME that you should work in your age and nobody cares!

AD,
you were talking to Minea... I do not care how many Mineas have you been talking to. And I know what plural means. Why?
mermaid wrote on 15.02.2010 at 10:53
Minea:
"600 hundred pages of history of Finnish television."
much less then one Harry Potter book...
and they watch TC at school... hmm.
And that is called STUDIES? It is FUN!
But, yes, Minea, for you it is SO DIFFICULT. Maybe they should build a statue ... to remind all Finland how exceptionally HARD-WORKING student you are!
mermaid wrote on 15.02.2010 at 11:11
Legeon,
come to Silver Waters, I am telling you third time already. There is nothing interesting in here anyway.
Minea, who pretends to be the MOST HARDWORKING student in the universe... yet her STUDIES does not interest her enough to watch TV news at home because she MUST watch them at school.
And 10 years old kid, who claimes that her parents are missusing her. Well, there is only one kind of business where 10 years old kid could earn that much money ... and yet to have an acess to an internet. Am I right?
So - come and let us have some fun!
mermaid wrote on 15.02.2010 at 11:21
Well, Isabell, and I almost missed this one:
"Is it rude (in your culture) to anwer when no one asks you? it should be! "
And yes, it is. We believe that "kids should be seen, but not heard". As a kid you are supposed not to speak in the presence of adults untill spoken to. Kid is deffinitely NOT expected to interffere adults talking - that is very RUDE and proves kid´s parents to do a very bad job with their parenting.
But - unlike you - I am not a kid anymore. :-)
mermaid wrote on 15.02.2010 at 12:38
"I read news when I am in school. And that "selling kids" did not appear.
So, tell me. What kind of selling it is about? "
Well, Minea,
few more years of studies and you will learn how to find information on a web, too.
I am no PROFFESIONAL - but I just googled "Haiti - selling kids" on our national provider and many articles did pop up.
In one of them they say that one baptist group was collecting kids to sell them for 10.000 USD a piece. In another article they said that they did put in jail 10 americans for trying to get 33 kids illegally out of the country.
There are many interesting articles about selling kids (or better said their organs), too.
But few more years and they will teach you how to "google", do not worry.
LOL. By the look of it there is apparently NO future for poor finish journalism...

I will not even read whole shit you did write. You still don't understand a thing. Don't take that drugs anymore it damages your brain. Soon will nothing left.

"And 10 years old kid, who claimes that her parents are missusing her"
And tell me where have i written so?
You wasted 8 years of your life at university. And then you spread your stupidity on innocent kids.
Does you boss (if you have one) know what you're doing in you worktime?
Isabell wrote on 15.02.2010 at 14:32
for you mermaid another chance to learn smth, try not to miss it:
immature: 1. not fully grown or developed; not mature: an immature body. 2. (used about person) not behaving as as sensibly as you would expect for a person of that age: Some students are very immature when they go to university.
Isabell wrote on 15.02.2010 at 14:39
@ Legeon
"They DO laugh at Tarja. They say "Turunen sorrow",and that is sarcasm.Deal with it."
It depends how the reader interprets Turus sorrow. I showed that picture to my sister and she said that part was laughing at people who were still upset because Tarja was fired. And then she said that the text below the picture (the cartoon guy's reply) was laughing at the whole drama in the media.
Of course you interpreted it as if Tarja was laughed at. It's only natural.
@ mermaid
"I see that you really are NOT the sharpest knife in the drawer, so I will type this very slowly ...and you can ask somebody to help you understand."
You don't need to praise yourself all the time. It started to be boring long time ago.
"In one of them they say that one baptist group was collecting kids to sell them for 10.000 USD a piece. In another article they said that they did put in jail 10 americans for trying to get 33 kids illegally out of the country."
Ah, I remember this news. Those Baptists were Americans. Yep, ten American Baptists tried to take those 33 kids illegally.
But not a single word about Haiti selling kids. Not in Finnish media nor in English media. If that was true it would have been huge news everywhere. And I hardly doubt any country would sell kids.

So,according to you,a person that doesn't agree with you is "natural" to see it that way BUT a person that, just so happens to be your sister, agrees with you,is an objective judge?...
I'm not trying to be offensive, but this doesn't make any sense. Why should your sister or anyone be more(or less)objective than me or anyone else?
And since when what your sister says is the right argument about this picture?I could say here what my boyfriend said, but it simply doesn't make any sense!
Still,you didn't answer me:why didn't they choose Tuomas' name?I suppose it's just a coincidence right?...

No, Minea,
I am not praising myslef or milions of students who does the same like I did. There is no need for praising something what IS perffectly NORMAL.
I am just saying that YOU ARE NOT.
And no, if you are not able AND/OR
you are way too lazy to search for news yourself, I will not be your servant. And yes, it was a huge news. Almost as big as the one from the year 2008 - about 300 ths children forced Haitian kids forced into slavery ...
Actually, the news about selling kids for organs "in large numbers" was citating Haiti Prime minister Bellerive, so maybe you should claim that he did not tell YOU personally. BASTARD.

I did not say anything like that.

Same here.
"Still,you didn't answer me:why didn't they choose Tuomas' name?I suppose it's just a coincidence right?..."
Because Tuomas's name was not filling the main titles. He was not the victim.
@ mermaid
"I am not praising myslef or milions of students who does the same like I did. There is no need for praising something what IS perffectly NORMAL."
Normal for you but not so normal for all of the people.
"I am just saying that YOU ARE NOT."
Thanks, doc.

I did search and this is the only kid selling news I found: http://www.datehookup.com/Thread-410265.htm
Well, seems like you are not kind enough to explain me this huge "Haiti selling their kids" news I asked my mother about that. She follows the news all the time and she said there hasn't been any kind of huge news about Haiti selling kids. Only about people kidnapping kids and selling them. Nothing about Haiti as a country selling their kids.
"Actually, the news about selling kids for organs "in large numbers" was citating Haiti Prime minister Bellerive, so maybe you should claim that he did not tell YOU personally. BASTARD."
Yes, kids have been sold in Haiti but not by the country itself.
So, I think you just did not think how to write about this news so you wrote it in a form that can be easily misunderstood: "Haiti selling kids". It would have been better to write fro example "kids sold in Haiti".
But I have a question: what does this have to do with sponsored kids?

Don't insult my parents coz you don't know them. Little respect for people who are older than you.
I know i can't teach you anything, it's hard to teach sb anything if he/she doesn't want to and doesn't understand what sb is talking to him/her.
I'm suprised that you collect everything what i have written but i'm not suprised that you didn't understand that i played a joke on you.

"Hey, big huggle and congrats! :D Did you have fun? How have you been?"
Thanks a lot! :) I had a lot of fun cheering for my training friends. Our club got bunch of medals.
I haven't felt well after the competition but I'm getting better. I think my body didn't like that I lost 3 kilos in one week to be able to compete in sparring. But it was worth it since I won bronze. ^^ I won't do that kind of weight losing anymore. :P
"I just downloaded the whole soundtrack of FFXIII - goddammit this cherishes my ears. <3"
I downloaded it weeks ago and it's definitely cool. Music is much more better than in Final Fantasy 7 and 8 that were on PlayStation 1 and Final Fantasy 10 that was on PlayStation 2, though there are few songs that are quite catchy. Boring but catchy. :D
For example:
Mako Reactor (FF7):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGVg_nsYktQ
Under the Rotting Pizza (FF7):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-kKtS44LB8
Cosmo Canyon (my personal favorite in this game) (FF7):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ei3i996VsNQ
Listen to the Cries of the Planet (FF7):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laOM3UwIXBA
Who... Are You? (FF7):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dV67Ee9kmRg
Oh, this list could go on forever. But I'll add some songs from FF10 and then I'm done. xP
Out of the Frying Pan:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQq2nMLeSDU
Auron's Theme:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4iwYgd9N3Y
Servants of the Mountain:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooA7CNbFne8
A Fleeting Dream (my personal favorite in this game):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFnKAPNcqog
Summoned Beast Battle:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3uCmM3sF5Y
When it's about Final Fantasies, I could talk about them endlessly. Don't know why for sure, maybe they just have had a big influence on me. :P
I can't say anything about music in FF8 since I could play only the first CD. The rest three are mystery to me because the second CD doesn't work at all. Well, maybe I'll buy the game from PlayStation network on some day. I hear it costs only about 10 euros. Right now I'm saving my money for FFXIII. It'll cost only 44.40 euros to me and it will mean 50-60 hours gaming to walk through the story and same 50-60 hours to complete the sidequests. Not bad, because movies cost about 20-25 euros on nowadays and they last only few hours. Thus I find games being better to waste my money. ^^
Nah, long and boring text again but hopefully you were able to read it, Joda. :)
Minea wrote on 17.02.2010 at 21:41

No prob at all! I always like to read other people's thoughts about FF series. And that list of yours was quite good, though I would have added some more songs. The Hymns of the Fayth, for example. Those classical singers are just amazing. Shiva and Bahamut are my favourites. :)
Shiva: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuuqsOdPHL8
Bahamut: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50RR2gQmJT0
Btw, these are the lyrics.
Japanese:
"Ieyui
Nobomenu
Renmiri
Yojuyogo
Hasatekanae
Kutamae"
English translation:
"Pray
Saviour
Dream
Child of Prayer
Forever? and ever
Bring us peace"
Joda wrote on 18.02.2010 at 16:45

Sure they sound nice but I'm not a fan of classical singing. :/ Fortunately the sound quality in the game is not as good as in those videos so their singing doesn't hurt my ears.
But I must say that Bahamut is a cool Summon in FFXIII. As you can see in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVQtiLBhHM0
"You're good, sunshine!" :D
