NIGHTWISH - Pro-Shot Footage Of Vocalist Anette Olzon Performing With THE RASMUS Online

On Saturday, November 28th NIGHTWISH vocalist Anette Olzon performed the song 'October And April' with THE RASMUS on MTV3 Finland's Ne Salmiset. Check it out below.

As previously reported, Olzon has been in Stockholm, Sweden working with writing partners Johan Glössner and Stefan Örn on her as-yet-untitled solo album which should emerge in late 2010. She recently issued the following update:

"Finally at my hotel after a long day in the studio again. Our goal to do one song per day works and one more song is demo recorded. Today we used an old old organ on the song and its sounds so nice. Real old instruments makes the songs so special. It was really windy both at home and here in Stockholm today and its for sure autumn now. The studio is lying in the middle of a forest and by a lake and the atmosphere is super. When I look out from the windows, I see the lake and all the colours in the trees are now red, yellow and brown. I'll try and take some photos for you tomorrow so you can see the surroundings."

Olzen looks older and older, and like Legeon said, very 80 style. But then in a very insulting way to the 80's xD.
And since when did Lauri become an Emo?
But ah well, If Tarja had put my band down and I got stuck with Miss 80 (This is both style and, over a couple of interviews/artciles also the age she looks like) I would also become an emo with included suicidal tendency's. I can't even blame him for it..

(No offence towards the real emo's, I only hate and disrespect the emo's who are "emo's"because it populair and in this case, because it sells..)

I think Anette looks beautiful in the video. I was one of those who didn't like her when she joined Nightwish, I must admit that I hated her. Later I started to like her and I also started to like her voice. It's very different from Tarja's but I think it's just a bonus. That's because Nightwish's music fits many kind of voices, in my opinion, and you don't need to be a soprano to be able to sing their songs.

In my opinion, Nightwish couldn't have found better singer. Anette is warm, honest and says how she feels and doesn't be just quiet when things must be said. Plus, she has a soft and warm voice that cherishs my heart and soul. :)

Despite the fact Anette does look pretty funny indeed (the hair-do was pretty unexpected), I gotta say she sounded really good in the performance, I actually liked it more than the CD version, she added some tiny ornaments and improvised a bit in the video. I was kind of surprised, anyway, to hear that Lauri was having quite a hard time with his singing, he actually skipped some of his parts in the duet and left Anette alone, he was probably feeling ill or something.
So, Anette, drop the curly hair, keep the dress and it's all gonna be good.

I can honestly say that I think she won?t care. She?s blocked herself off from listening to any type of criticism and does what she wants to do without listening to what anyone says.

Can't speak for the others here, but personally, I?m not critical of her because she doesn?t sound like Tarja. I love plenty of singers who don?t sound a thing like Tarja. I?m critical of Anette because her ?technique? is mediocre. On the Pain and Rasmus songs she sounds great because that?s her type of music. It?s not dramatic, it?s not bombastic, it?s not horribly special but that?s where she fits in and shines. Using those same singing techniques with Nightwish just doesn?t cut it and her attitude needs a serious adjustment as of late. As I?ve said in another comment, if she needs everyone in the world to like her to be happy then she is in the wrong profession by far.

I spent few days in my bed, being ill and so I had to watch that stupid TV ...

That made me think about few things:

First of all - Almagest was more then right saying in the other thread that Maestro is FORCED to do any kind of things all the time. He is a typical victim of dark forces. Forced all his life to do things he would never even think of.

Second: Tainted described Princess as permanently complaining. I would like to add - complaining and tired and/or ill.

But what striked me when I watched Jonas brothers serie - Maestro acts as FORTH Jonas!

There was a episode showing how one of Jonases lied to his friend... and was even rude to her and damaged her dreams...
But it ended up good because SHE APOLOGIZED for making him behave that way.

And that was so HOLOPAINEN - like! He also expected Tarja to apologize for that mass she was responsible for (open letter, her dissmisal from the band, media turoil) -

but Tarja did not have a class ... unlike Jonas brothers´fans and friends!

@ celisajan: I think you are the first person here to successfully give me a headache with your writing... You say you come here because you hope that people will learn something. Well, I come here because I'm still hoping that the band ? Anette in particular ? might learn a thing or two and straighten out her act. Fact is that we are not obligated to respect anything or anyone. In order to get respect you have to earn respect. Anette has lost my respect a while ago and has yet to regain it, though I have tried recently to look at her more positively. As you can probably see, the farthest I've gotten was that she sounded nice on a mediocre rock ballad so not very promising, neh?

@ Klaplopert: I do think she's a bit too chunky, actually. Not horribly so, but she could do better for herself. No, she doesn't have to be a skeleton to be considered attractive, but being overweight has its own issues as well. It just boils down to being able to take care of your body and health. She's not the healthiest woman alive as she has a pattern of getting sick at least once a month and she hasn't taken the best care of herself lately so, as I've said, she could do better for herself.

On another note, I do have to vent so for those with sensitive and fragile minds that will combust at the mention of one negative thing about Anette... Yeah, just skip over this portion. You've been given a fair warning.

Anette... has successfully managed to separate herself from Nightwish (for me anyways). Yesterday I came across a video on Youtube of a live performance of 'Poet and the Pendulum' and for a moment found myself wondering what in the world she was doing on stage singing with them. Now, I've never been in any sort of denial that she is their singer and will probably remain as such even if there are people who wish otherwise. When you see a band perform, though, you see the package as a whole. The full sound, the performance work in unison. Watching that video, though, Anette seemed to be some hired part time help who wasn't integrated into the band, like she doesn't belong there anymore. I couldn't even watch the whole video, it was just that bad. Turned it off half a minute in and didn't go back to it.

All of this time she's been trying to put herself into the spotlight as an artist completely separate from the band. She's singing with Pain, with Rasmus, she's got her own solo album in the works, her own logo design for some unknown reason. For crying out loud, I took a look at her bio on her website and she spends paragraphs talking about the musical she was in, the different artists she's worked with, how she toured constantly with her mother and played the obode. I had to scan the thing so closely to see one little tiny mention of Nightwish in parenthesis that I almost went blind from it. And she only mentioned them because she was talking about Brother Firetribe and made the small connection through Emppu. If it wasn't for that little mention people wouldn't even know that she was in Nightwish if they were finding out about her for the first time. But she's done it, she's finally done it. She's segregated herself from the band so much that it took me a few seconds to realize that she was supposed to be up on stage with them at the show. This... is... so bad. I keep hoping that things will improve but they just keep getting worse and worse and worse...

BTW: about few hundred milions people on Earth have the same "style" - do you admire every one of them? And how do do you do that? On Mondays you do admire people form Asia, on Tuesdays Europeans, Latin Americans are due on Wednesdays.... maybe?

This is true.As i have said in another article,when a girl posted a text on her blog saying how much disappointing is that Anette only talks about clothes and gyms and she puts on this image about NW that is only related to clothes and money etc, all Anette's fans went on defending Anette(which is a good thing to do if you're a fan) by saying what THEY like!(which is not a good thing to say to defend someone).
The were saying "i really like your blog","i like reading posts about your days","i enjoy seeing pics of you"...
But NO ONE ever considered NW and their image.Only what THEY like.

Although I have to say that I had some health issues as well a couple of years ago. If someone around me had something, I had it to. When it became colder, I had the flu enz enz. I was always sick. Only if they are on solo and they have a band to play with.
But even then,they don't say that because of respect.

Many people could say that the difference is minor,especially if we think that it's not her native language and that many things can be misinterpreted,but "my guitarist" sounds SO BAD that she shouldn't write it.

Fortunately the truth is that you can't please everyone. I'm glad Anette doesn't take seriously these kind of criticizers. :) She has her own style to do things, every singer has, and that's how it should be. Of course people have the right to criticize the celebrities but enough is enough, in my opinion. :)

Oh, and btw, Madonna looks like a mummy without makeup, in my opinion. And those gymnastic outfits she wears on the stage... I don't think they fit for a 50-year-old muscle-mama. :P

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who has a problem with Anette's biography. Seriously, I was just venting but good to see that it wasn't completely pointless.

Still holding out some form of hope that Anette will straighten out her act and that Nightwish will be as great as they once were. Admittedly, and sadly, she has done a splendid job of putting the spotlight on herself in the news not only here but in the Rasmus section, but it doesn't mean that I'm going to drop everything and stop following the news on the band completely just because I grew to dislike their new singer.

Now, tell me, when did you fall asleep FULLY DRESSED and with MAKE UP and slept for 14 hours?
It never happened to me in my life... and I do not know anybody with this problem...
But, off course, I have never been really drunk.
I guess THAT might be a reason.

There are some things of Anette I don´t like , too! But in my opinion thats not important for me.
Important is the music and when I hear a song and I like this song, the singer isn´t important for me..the song is it!!!
An example: I hear NW since 2001 , My man came to me and said, listen to this, you will love it! Yes I loved it!!
But in 2005 the rumours came about the letter and the End of the singer in this band... in this time I take a look in -Metall Hammer-metal magazine..and than I see the face of a woman..Tarja!Before this rumores, somebody ..no ...everybody could come to me and tell me -Tanja Schmitt- is the singer..and I would believe it!!!
The joke is, I heard 4 years the musik of this band, and I loved it but the faces and names of the members, are nearly unknown for me, because their faces and names are not important for me... But I LOVED this songs !!!! I loved that sound... (since at 2005 I buy all DVDs of this band, because now Iam interested for more..I wanted to know whats behind this good sound)
So and than came Anette, she seems to be a friendly Woman( too much girlie in my opinion , but friendly)
She worked hard and she had a hard start in this band, but she was couraged and with a smile in her face, she stands most of the problems !
She isn´t a metal queen, never ever!!
But NW is not a pure metalband, so it is ok for me!!
Her style is ...hhmmm funny, but when she is happy with this clothes, than its ok... I want to hear her singing , not see her walking an a catwalk;-)

There is an old video with Tarja, she looks funny in my opinion, I never would go at street with this style( because its not my style)..but In never would insult her for this outfit and this hear!
In my opinion it was hers and so its ok!! and it doesn´t matters for me, what Anette is wearing..or writing in her blog, as long she sings for NW or The Rasmus or.... and I like to hear her singing....there are songs I don´t like her voice (.. Ever dream, and the most of the old songs)
But this is ok, too, because this songs are Tarja songs...and not Anettes...!!!

One of my good friends, actually, went into a rant over it some time ago when Anette posted on her blog about thinking that she was cursed by an evil witch and telling others to watch out for them. No, they don't. At least not the Wiccans that I know. It's just a bit of a humorous thing to them, really. The only thing I really know about it is that they are very in tune with nature and energy and they do not run around putting curses on people. Maybe I'll direct my friend to this page at some point, set her loose on those who think that Anette has never disrespected or insulted anyone :)

For example,have you seen Amon Amarth or the guys from Sabaton?
The same with Finland...And in every country.

And you have that kind of thing in North America,too.James Hetfield looks quite masculine,but the kind of men that are projected are men like Jonas Brothers and Zac Efron and not men like Hetfield.

I'm quite aware of the fact that Metros occur in ALL countries - even mine... But I was indirectly pointing out the obvious... that style trends tend to start in Europe and then migrate to the west a couple years later...
Americans are usually not on the cutting edge when it comes to fashion trends. Hence, I blame Europe for the ridiculous Metro style... ;)

Likewise I would also have to praise Europe for the styles I do enjoy. Obviously I am on a "Metal from Finland" website... so I must not seriously have a grudge against an entire continent. And indeed I do not. I especially like European Metal.

Learn to take me 50% seriously. For me this is like an internet coffee shop where gossip and BS is generated with token factoids amongst guests. If you pride yourself on your purely FACTitious comments - then might I suggest authoring a hardcover?

In conclusion - if I wanted to be serious all the time I wouldn't take reality breaks on the net to sites like these - I'd stay at work 24/7.
