SWALLOW THE SUN: 'New Moon' Artwork Unveiled; Audio Samples Available

Finnish doom metallers SWALLOW THE SUN will release their fifth album, entitled "New Moon", on November 10 via Spinefarm Records. The CD was recorded at Fascination Street studios in Örebro, Sweden with Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with such acts as KATATONIA, OPETH, PARADISE LOST and AMON AMARTH. Kai Hahto (WINTERSUN, ex-ROTTEN SOUND) has been recruited to play drums on the album following the recent departure of longtime skinsman Pasi Pasanen.

"New Moon" tentative track listing:

02. Falling World
03. Sleepless Swans
04. And Heavens Cried Blood
05. Lights on the Lake (Horror Pt. III)
06. New Moon
07. Servant of Sorrow
08. Weight of the Dead

A mini-site for the CD can be accessed at this location.

  2. That is easily my favourite artwork for a STS CD, even including TMNC's gloomy haunted house and APOB's stern kings. A lot of bands seem to be getting artists to use the technique of mock-etching for their album covers (Paradise Lost, Behemoth, and that's only this year) but it has worked well on each one I've seen. Hopefully the music will be as dark and doomy, Hope was a little too Gothic for me.

  3. ...I hate to double post, but I just listened to the samples. They're kind of meeting Insomnium in the middle at this point, just without the catchy riffs and with a definite Tiamat influence in the vocals (good thing btw). I will be very interested to hear the end result. Just hoping the drums are sounding a little crunchier in the mix by then, as Kai Hahto is a very capable drummer.
