NIGHTWISH's HIETALA Forgets Song Lyrics At Finland's SAUNA OPEN AIR

NIGHTWISH bassist/vocalist forgot the lyrics to the song "The Islander" during the band's concert at the Sauna Open Air festival on June 7, 2009 in Tampere, Finland and was forced to start the track all over again, with the rest of the group accompanying him. NIGHTWISH's video for "The Islander" was honored with a "Best Music Video" award at the Muuvi awards ceremony, which was held on April 17, 2009 in Helsinki.

"The Islander" clip was shot and directed by Tuomas "Stobe" Harju at the end of 2007 in Rovaniemi, Finland near the Arctic Circle.

Muuvi awards are handed out annually to the best Finnish music videos.

"Made In Hong Kong (And In Various Other Places)", the new CD/DVD from NIGHTWISH, entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 15. It also opened at No. 2 in Finland and dropped down to No. 5 in its second week of release.

Released on March 13 via Nuclear Blast Records, "Made In Hong Kong (And In Various Other Places)" contains a DVD documentary (with a running time of approximately 45 minutes) of NIGHTWISH's world tour in support of the band's latest album, "Dark Passion Play", as well as a CD featuring live recordings from the trek. The documentary footage was reportedly directed by Ville Lipiäinen.

Dude, everyone screws up. He was probably drunk or somethin, who knows. The crowd was awesome to him, helping him with the lyrics. That is how it's done. Marco is amazing and I don't care if he forgot the lyrics, it should not even be that big of a deal anyways. NW rocked that show so who cares. Everyone had a blast, even Marco, he thought it was hilarious anyways! Good deal, Marco you rock! m/

When you gig as much as NW does and play as often as they do, you are bound to not be one top of your game. Marco forgetting the lyrics just proves that we are all human who make mistakes. But remember, this man basically MADE Finnish Metal of what it is today (with Tarot, as a big contributor to the scene in Finland). This guys deserves all the respect in the world for what he has done. MARCO RULES!!!!

tha't really funnier than sad...
when I saw him starting lyrics and laughing, I thought, HE'S drunk!!!!
But it's summer, it's a festival and the end of the DPP tour so, it's less stressing than at the beginning and I think marco understood that ^^
Hope he's not going to do the same at each festival this summer.....

But I had a good time watching the others reactions - Tuomas' heartful giggling, Anette was fed up she didn't understand a word from Marco's finnish speech to the crowd and Marco's guitar fell from his leg, when he was thinking about the last hit to the strings after Troy's final solo... probably he was really drunk :-)

and the fact that they all react so well and make it all look so funny makes me love them even more.

this reminds me of the time Tony Kakko forgot the lyrics to replica and got all red and started giggling and the band started from the beginning again... he was so cute and adorable about it, it actually improved the show, it made it more interesting and special.

Your thought is correct,BUT:
1)Anette doesn't drink.I highly doubt she has ever been drunk during a show,but for NW guys and especially Marco,it is a habit.
2)Marco is an already established bass player and vocalist,so he doesn't really need to prove anything.Anette on the other hand,still tries to show who she is and what she's worth.She isn't an established vocalist no matter how hard her die-hard fans try to convince others that she is.

And i can assure you that if Tarja had forgotten the lyrics,people would say how Tuomas was right that she didn't care for the band and their music.

she messed the 1st couplet of the song and not the whole one like Marco did ;) these are a bit different things..

And for Marco.. it can happen with everyone so no bashing) he was good at laughing at himself and turning all these into a joke, and a crowd was pleasant enough to help him with their singing ^^

All artists forget something sometime and it happens also without alcohol. Tarja forgot words when she was in Nightwish, Anette and Marco (with and without alcohol) too.
All people forget something at their job, it's only human.
Marco isn't the first drunk rock artist on the stage and he didn't spoil the show. And this doesn't mean that I like drunk artists. I don't understand this "noise" about this. Maybe because it was Nightwish and somebodies seam to have obsession to find out something to defame the band.

No,she hasn't been drinking,she just ate too much from stress...And on tour,there are not many things you can eat,that are healthy.
But it's true,she earned many kilos which mostly appear on her face.In two years she aged like 10 years.

Wow, you guys are right. I thought Anette was really attractive during her first year in NW. Now she changed her look, going back to the blonde hair, and has gained some weight in a few areas. She does look like she aged in a very short time. Boy, two years did a lot to her huh? (BTW, this is not an insult to Anette so don't see it that way.)

When she makes mistakes, a lot of people come and find some negative about her..
Marco was not a little bit drunk..he was full, for all to see!

Please don`t misundertand my words, I love marco and I know he is a great singer

I wonder if Tuomas spanked Marco for being a bad boy.
Maybe he got a collective scorning from the band. Maybe he sat in the sauna by himself for a time out.

I honestly can't believe this is news. Although truly I find it entertaining none-the-less. It's great to hear that "metal idols" are just as drunken and capable of drunken mishaps as anyone else.

We praise the celebrity for being 'better than us', and then we praise them when they inevitably fall off the pedestal into the category of slightly normal so we can stop.

What's next? Emppu loudly farting onstage. Oh no that won't be cause YouTube quality audio/video could not capture that quality of low rumbling audio - and hence it could never be news if it isn't on YouTube.
