LORDI's OX And AWA Interviewed; Video Available
21.12.2008
Ox (bass) and Awa (keyboards) of Finnish heavy metal monsters LORDI, dressed in their monster attire, talked with Kiwibox.com senior editor Steven about how the band's mainman, Mr. Lordi, spends over three hours a day putting on his costume, what everyone back home in Finland thinks about Barack Obama 's victory in the United States and whether or not they plan on putting out an album of B-sides and leftover tracks from the sessions for their latest album, "Deadache". Watch the three-and-a-half-minute chat below.
LORDI sold around 1,700 copies of "Deadache" in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD debuted at No. 13 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
LORDI's previous studio album, "The Arockalypse", has sold more than 30,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD was released in over 30 countries, including Japan, and the album was certified over triple platinum in the band's home country of Finland, gold in Germany (100,000 units), and gold in Sweden (40,000 units). The single "Hard Rock Hallelujah" achieved gold status in Germany (150,000 units).
LORDI launched "Deadache" with a special performance on October 31 at the 700-capacity Tavastia club in Helsinki, Finland. This was the first time LORDI played on the stage of what is said to be Finland's most famous rock club.
