NIGHTWISH: New Video Interview With TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN Available
15.11.2008
A new Brazilian TV interview with NIGHTWISH mainman/keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen conducted during the Finnish/Swedish symphonic metal band's current South American tour can be viewed below.
NIGHTWISH issued a digital-only collection of demos and B-sides titled "The Sound of Nightwish Reborn", on September 2. This release, which clocks in at nearly 70 minutes of music, retains "must-have" status for all NIGHTWISH diehards, since it includes a bevy of exclusive material, such as demo versions of songs from the "Dark Passion Play" sessions that were recorded prior to singer Anette Olzon joining the band and that feature Marco Tapani Hietala handling the vocals, as well as B-sides.

OK... a small ( really small but pretty noise ) Brazilian audience has been rude to Annete, but she needs to respect the fact that we miss Tarja. And, Annete should remember this: a huge part of Nightwish money all over their carrer came out brazilian fans !!! Yes, our pockets buying CD's DVD's, T-Shirts, Flags, Posters.
Tuomas indeed did recognize last tour, that Germany and Brazil makes over 60% Nightwish grosses. So, You decide Annete: To perform in modern and confortable venues in Brazil in front of thousands and thousands of true fans or going USA perform to 100 maybe 200 fans in small venues in the middle of nowhere...
Sorry, It's just a opinion from a fan that already heard she talk shit about Greece, France, Italy and Brazil.
For now on, just keep in Scandinavia, and let see you paying your bills every month.

Hey that's not a very nice comment. Oh course she's going to be upset, she's trying to fill the shoes of Tarja, and many fans haven't warmed up to her nor would they to any other replacement they could have chosen. Imagine being there, touring your heart out for the fans, only to have people mock you and give you the finger. Not very nice huh?
And as a US fan, I'm glad they are humble enough to play in small venues in Virginia and such, because it's much cheaper for us, and bands like Nightwish just aren't very popular around here. We'd never get to see them otherwise.
Peace and God bless!

Paulie, the way I see it, Anette DOES respect the fact that you miss Tarja. What she doesn't respect is a bunch of middle fingers pointed at her with shouts of Tarja's name (that's not missing Tarja - that's being an asshole). STILL, even through all this, she cares about the Brazilian fans....cares enough to lie about the reasons she left the stage. She probably fed the media the "smoke in the venue" story because she felt ashamed of the whole situation and wanted to put it in the past, without hurting any feelings - she wanted to move on.
So, instead of complaining about how much Anette doesn't respect you/your opinions, why not try to respect HER? If you can't, at least respect the strength she has shown thus far and the fact that she is still pushing on, in spite of all the hateful and immature words/actions of many "fans". She is human, after all, and I'm actually surprised she has lated this long without a major breakdown. She has earned my respect.
Monetary issues aside, I think Anette would rather perform "in the middle of nowhere" (you know, like New York, Houston, and Atlanta) for 200 people who really care/actually like the new band they're discovering, rather than fear how much hate she is going to encounter in one of these "modern and confortable [sic]" venues in Brazil. With that said, I'm sure it is rewarding to perform in front of thousands of passionate, loyal Brazilian fans who support Nightwish wholeheartedly - fans who have accepted the change the band has gone through and still welcome them with open arms. After all, the hate seems to be concentrated in a small group of people.

Let's smooth things, I'm not telling US fans don't deserve respect or something like that, right the contrary. I have lots of american friends and I chat them almost everyday at Vampire Freaks.
And I know how they suffer a lot about the fact that nothing but Crap Rap or stupid Hip Hop acts gets credit out there.
The only thing I ask:"Annete, respect the fans; stop blabbering things you don't actually know. You're new in town. And take a look around: the whole tour is sold out.
99% of us enjoy new Nightwish or at least respect the unusual choice.
( I was watching some Metallica concert last night on TV; plenty of people giving their middle fingers to NEW Metallica and I didn't see Lars or James bursting out )
GIMME A BREAK

There is nothing rock'n'roll about Brazil...Anette loves Brazil and really wanted to do shows for Brazilian people, but the people in there acted like a fools. Anette has been in the band almost two years now and Tarja was KICKED OUT 2005!!!!.. Maybe it's time for you guys to move on finally. The band sure has done that. Cares about Brazilian fans, alltought they don't care about the band!...Best wishes.

What the hell are you talking about? Those Brazilian idiots deserved everything they got, but what did she said about Greece, Farance and Italy?

To Paulie Hollefeld!
Nightwish do what they like and NOT WHAT YOU LIKE OR WISH!They don't make music only to you and they can't please everybody. Our duty is listen that music and if you don't like it then you better find something else to listen.NW is not the first and last band with a new singer so you better accept that or move on.You should remember this:Anette has nothing to do in this "Tarja case" because it was history when she joined the band and she don't have debt for these "we miss Tarja" people. This "middle finger" is so childish and that's not gonna change nothing.NW and even Metallica knows that!
Nightwish (Anette) respect all the fans and that's why they are touring.Shellfish and nasty people don't deserve any respect!
My sister lives in Switzerland and she was in NW concert with other 13.000 people. All the gigs are sold out in every country and DPP album has sold more than any older albums. They like to play smaller venues too and there was 500-5000 people (sold out) in USA and Canada concerts so it's not only Germany and Brazil where they have fans.Every body who like NW have a FREEDOM to buy NW albums or tickets for the concert.Tuomas said:"We lost some old fans and we have to accept that but we got and get new fans too" so ex.in Brazil there is still people who like Nightwish.
PS.I like Tarja too but I don't miss her back to NW.Anette and Tarja are great singers and they deserve all respect!

I understand that Tarja's departure was a hard thing for the fans....HOWEVER, I am sure it wasn't easy for the band either. And seriously people what is the point of trashing Annette....I have a news flash Tarja is not coming back. The band and her have both moved on (as you do in life). And if Annette departs because some fans can't grow up...then guess what....you will have to wait 2 or 3 more years for a new CD. WOW that seems a bit counter productive! Annette is NOT Tarja....but she has a lot to offer if only some would open their eyes. I for one have seen video clips from the new tour and it struck me that I see more smiles in the faces of the band now then I have in a long while. NOT trashing Tarja...I just think somethings run their course.
And to Paulie....get a grip! These are 5 people doing what they love...making amazing music for the people that want to rock to it....don't turn this into certain countries controlling The NIghtwish destiny! I mean really...fans are fans! We all count no matter where we are!
And you heard she spoke badly about Greece, France, Italy and Brazil...were was that from exactly? ....hmmm, because unless you heard it come from her mouth directly...not really sure a rumor is a fair thing to rip someone apart about....unless your 12!
I have been a fan of the band for sometime...and enjoyed Tarja very much....but I believe growth is always necessary and not always easy. I believe that both the band and Tarja are on new journeys...new adventures...and we should respect that. And as for Annette....she has a wonderful heart, a beautiful voice and an amazing band to support her. And even more important....she is a person with feelings! My hope is that all Nightwish fans will see these things and support her too!
