LORDI Mainman Comments On 'Deadache' Artwork
13.10.2008
LORDI's fourth studio album, "Deadache", will be released in the U.S. on October 28 and internationally in the same week. The Nino Laurenne-produced CD, much like its predecessors, is catchy, melodic hard rock, but this time around there is a rougher edge to the music. The last piece to the puzzle is now ready — the album’s intense cover art, a one-of-a-kind piece hand painted by Mr. Lordi himself, is making the rounds of the faithful.
Regarding what went into the design of the cover, the band's vocalist and creative mastermind Mr. Lordi had this to say: "I wanted to do a picture that is somewhat striking, while at the same time not trying to hide the new look of the monsters in any way. So it is not mysterious or 'fantasized', just the five faces, well lit up.”
He adds, "For anyone who knows LORDI, it will be clear that it is us when you see the cover. It is the whole truth and nothing but the truth. It took about two weeks to finish it, as I am really way too detailed with my paintings. Then I took a photo of it and continued the work with Photoshop, leveling and balancing the colors and saturation as well as adding the logos."
Japan's WeROCK City has posted a seven-minute interview with LORDI frontman Mr. Lordi and drummer Kita conducted during the band's recent promotional visit to Japan. They talk about their new costume designs, upcoming album "Deadache" and the experience of meeting their rock idols KISS and ALICE COOPER for the first time when they shared the stage with them at the Rock2Wgtn festival in New Zealand this past March. Watch the interview at this location.
LORDI's previous studio album, "The Arockalypse", has sold over 350,000 copies worldwide. The album has been released in over 30 countries, including the U.S. and Japan and the album has been certified over triple platinum in the band's home country of Finland, gold in Germany (100,000 units), and gold in Sweden (40,000 units). The single "Hard Rock Hallelujah" has achieved gold status in Germany (150,000 units). The new album, "Deadache", will be released in over 30 countries as well, including all of Europe, the U.S., and Japan.
