NIGHTWISH: New York Show Cancelled

Finnish/Swedish metal band Nightwish has made the following statement:

Due to Anette's illness, also the show in New York is cancelled. Sonata Arctica will play though, and the guys of Nightwish will be there for a meet and greet.
This was one of the best tour legs we have ever done, and it's a pity it has to end this way, but there's no competing with the forces of nature. There is nothing anybody can do about these things.
We want to thank all the fans for all the sympathy, you guys have been so understanding, it's heartwarming. Thank you! We will do our best to make up for the cancelled shows sometime in the future.

Sincerely,

Nightwish

Nightwish had already cancelled concerts in Knoxville, TN, and Charlotte, NC, and Baltimore, MD, due to Anette's ilness. The concert at the Nokia Theater in New York was the last U.S. date of the tour.

  2. Im very disapointed and saddened i will not get a chance to see NIGHTWISH at their NEW YORK show.I'm a new comer to NIGHTWISH.... been listening to them for a few weeks only when I discoved them recently ....my first cd by them "Dark Passion Play" has been soul touching. This band is simply amazing ,each and every one of you. The best part for me is I can't compare Anette to Tarja like alot of peolpe are doing.Tarja as great as she is isn't what I was introduced to so i have a Dark Passion Play for Anette on vocals. My heart goes out to her to feel better and I want her to know it's ok Don't feel bad or be sad to me you ARE Nightwish .....being a native New Yorker and an American with Swedish decendants my heart goes out to you...When I finally get to see you guys live I will be very happy. Until then (and I hope you get to read this Anette) No one is anything but proud of you .....Jeff P. (Bayside,Queens,New york)

  3. Yup, I posted it days ago that Nightwish wouldn't tour NY again. Isn't it ironic that they have scheduled 2 shows in NY this year, and had to cancel both? Good thing I saw them twice when I did, Tarja put on a much better show though. Never again will I attempt to go to another Nightwish concert.

  5. Yes, guys, it is sad you will not have a chance to see nightwish. But I think they'll change their minds and make another US tour in 2009 as they had planned at first but changed plans due to concerts in Europe at that time. As some concerts did not happen in US this year, they should do them later. Plus, Nightwish always stressed importance of getting to US market, so it's like s priority to them.

  6. I noticed the last 2 times that they were in this area they have canceled as well. Sucks.
Luckily I saw them at Wacken which makes me not SO disappoinoted, but still, just the fact this area keeps getting canceled on :(
Hopefully next time, NY/NJ will be in the BEGINNING of the tour...so we actually GET a show :D
