NEGATIVE Parts Ways With Longtime Guitarist

Finnish hard/glam rockers NEGATIVE have parted ways with longtime guitarist Sir Christus (real name: Jukka Kristian Mikkonen). The band will start recording its fourth album as a five-piece.

Commented NEGATIVE lead singer Jonne Aaron: "We decided that it's best to continue without Sir Christus. This is not a hasty decision; we've talked about this many times and this is really the best thing for all of us. There's no hard feelings on either side."

He continued, "It's just like any long-lasting relationship — people can grow apart and end up wanting different things. NEGATIVE will, of course, keep going on, no doubt about that. This will not affect our future plans."

NEGATIVE will start the recording sessions for the new CD in February with producer Mikko Karmila (NIGHTWISH, CHILDREN OF BODOM).

"We feel very confident about the new songs, and the mood inside the band is relaxed and relieved," said Jonne. "We're concentrating 100% on the new album now, and we'll bring in the new guitarist on the gigs following the release of our new record. We'll let you know more when we have something to tell you."

NEGATIVE will release its new DVD, "In the Eye of the Hurricane" (cover artwork), on January 26 via Hype Records Oy. The track listing for the effort is as follows:
