ALEXI LAIHO: Finnish metalscene is twisted nowadays.

ALEXI LAIHO (Children Of Bodom) feels that Finland has been taken over by a twisted metalhell which hopefully calms down now that all the Eurovision Song contest stuff has been put aside.

ALEXI LAIHO who's band CHILDREN OF BODOM played a show on Tuska-Festival on friday feels that metalmusic is shoved in all the wrong places nowadays. Metal music has become somewhat trendy in Finland and ALEXI was a bit shocked when he was at a grocery store the other day and noticed a yoghurt name "Hevi-shotti" (Heavy shot). Naturally there is nothing in common between the music and the yoghurt. Besides that, there are also Heavy-boilers, Heavy-frying pans, Heavy-Eurovisions. The world of heavy metal is not what it used to be anymore.

"The whole metalscene is so different nowadays for instance when comparing it to the times when you were 16 and in the mall calculating your money to by a wristband. It sort of pisses me off that everything is heavy-this and heavy-that nowadays. I guess it has lost it's credibility someway or at least comparing it for what it used to be."

CHILDREN OF BODOM will play one other festival show in Finland in this years Ruisrock. After that they will finalize the new songs and hit the studios to record a predecessor to their successfull "Are You Dead Yet?" album. The new album will be released during 2008.
