HANOI ROCKS: Twelve Shots On The Rocks Reissue Due June 25th

A reissued edition of HANOI ROCKS' 2002 "comeback" album, Twelve Shots On The Rocks, will be released in the UK on June 25th via Sanctuary.

A press release reads: "This June see the first UK release of Hanoi Rocks’ 2002 comeback album, Twelve Shots On The Rocks. This reissue replicates the original limited edition release with the addition of four bonus tracks and marks the start of a programme of Hanoi Rocks releases.

Formed in Helsinki in 1980 by Andy McCoy and Michael Monroe, Hanoi Rocks first recorded output was on their local Joanna Records. On finding their way to London in late 1982, the band signed to the small Lick label and set to work with MOTT THE HOOPLE’s Dale Griffin and Overend Watts on the album, Back To Mystery City. Falling somewhere between AEROSMITH and the NEW YORK DOLLS and fronted by androgynous blonde bombshell, Monroe, Hanoi Rocks quickly became something of a cult favourite with their cocksure attitude and trashy aesthetic. By the following year, the band had generated enough interest for CBS to offer them a six figure, three album deal. The result was the 1984 UK Top 30 album, Two Steps From The Move. Sadly, tragedy then struck when drummer Razzle was killed in a car accident (in a car driven by MÖTLEY CRÜE’s singer, Vince Neil) and with the band chemistry irrevocably changed carrying on was never really an option.

Fast forward to 2002 and McCoy and Monroe found themselves jamming again at a party honouring the band and with the sparks still firing they decided that a re-launch was due. Twelve Shots On The Rocks was the result, with a display of material proving it a natural successor to their classic Two Steps From The Move.
