1.      If I am not wrong, Cacodaemon is suppossed to be the Son of the Beast, isn´t it? Great, I like antichristian attitude in Extreme Metal, I guess that´s the only way to make Metal!!!

First of all, for me, the Beast and his companions represent different values and meanings than the ones of the regular (usually non-thinking) metal heads. I keep these foul deities and satanic demons as a part of an entity, something that’s still in servitude and under the laws of the universe. Therefore, I keep CACODAEMON as a worship rite for this dark side that is immense in my head! I feel like I am possessed by something that forces me to compose this music, it is a calling, and when the day comes when this music doesn’t come naturally, I’ll quit. I like to make songs that are out of control and write lyrics that are over the top, like "Extreme Humiliation and Torture" (unreleased), which has totally perverse lyrics: "Kiss The Anus Of Your Children’s Rapist, Suck The Erected Penis Of Your Father…" and so on. Another fave theme for me is the end of the world, and what is bound to it, like emotions of terror and panic, no one wins. The Aryan race that the scene now praises is raped (mainly men) and dies in terrible agony. So it is all about sickness and chaos, and occultism. You know, just normal people’s things…?

I study (and practice) occultism on the "street level" (how it affects to us), and for me every religion is on the same level of righteousness and bullshit. I oppose the church which has nothing to do with believing but I can’t blame anything else but the humans behind it and under its command for the stupidity. I also think that the new religion, anti-chrisianity, is also just a manipulative and uncreative institute, only for the masses, not for me. The beliefs of the world are like a pyramid: there must be the base so there can be peak, there are good points and weaker points but it still creates a strong entity if YOU are wise enough to realise it.

CACODAEMON tries to stand on the peak looking down upon the (evil side of) existence. Anarchy, death of everything, desecration. So maybe now it seems a bit clearer to you. The day when CACODAEMON’s music becomes religionist propaganda, please: shoot me in the head, ha, ha. I prefer total morbidity, death and chaos, everyone can keep their gods and religions.

To tell you the truth, your “Morbid Winds of Destruction” Tape Ep was hidden some months in my vault, but when I decided to give it a second chance before wasting it, the Bestial music I heard was absolutively desecrating! Yeah, it is morbid and with a voice fucking obscure! I would like to know if you plan to re-edit it on fucking vynil? I read somewhere about the chance to do a split with CRUCIFIER (where are they from?). How does it go on? Tell me all the release plans you have!

No, we will leave it be as a tape EP and as a landmark on our road. If someone asks us to re-record it so one can release it on vinyl, of course we’ll do it, but otherwise we will not give any effort in enhancing it or taking "Morbid Winds…" any further. I think it’s great, very heavy and dark, but it still lacks the quality our new songs present! As you said, we have had plans with the U.S. CRUCIFIER, led by the Black Lourde Of Crucifixion (also in GRAND BELIAL’S KEY), if someone doesn’t know this name. I and the Lourde have had plans to do something together for a year now, and just a while ago we have thought about something we really could do. So, if everything goes right, there might be a CACODAEMON / CRUCIFIER Split, maybe a 7" or a 10". CACODAEMON has already recorded the songs for it when you read this ‘zine, and they are: "Necromancy Of The Damned" (fast fucking chaos and damnation), "Sabbath Of The Wicked" (more old school and sick terror) and "Electric Funeral" (a BLACK SABBATH – cover version). The songs sound very primitive again, more clean and studio sounding yet fucking morbid and dark! The sounds remind me of "In The Sign Of Evil", if you know what I mean! So, now we have to decide what the format will be and which songs will end up on the split. If the split fails, we will find other purposes for those songs for sure!

Your Tape has a sound nearer to Rehearsal level sound than studio, is it on purpose, or you don´t care? What will be heared in the near future?

"Black Death Metal", "Fullmoon Ritual" and "Morbid Winds Of Destruction" are all recorded with a few mics, a computer and bad acoustics.

We haven’t used any studios so far, but we will. The "CRUCIFIER split songs" have been recorded at our rehearsal room, mostly live, as I said, very bestial again (much better though). But, an announcement is to come: CACODAEMON has got a record deal now, for a CD and hopefully for a LP as well! We will record the album in a studio before the year 2003, our goal is to get clearer yet obscure and heavy sounds, not anything like the trendy sound of these days is. Maybe a bit like some SAMAEL / DEATH / POSSESSED / SLAYER sounds.

What are your goals as a band? Do you want to be a recognized band? Do you like many gigs? Tell us your thoughts.

As I mentioned in the previous section, CACODAEMON has got a deal for a full-length album. To record about three of those is one of my goals, I do not wish to release more albums. Usually three albums is fine, and some 7" and split releases. We shall see about the quantity, but be sure about the quality! I think that CACODAEMON is quite recognised right now, I still get letters and email, I get good comments and so on. Of course, we want to do more gigs, ‘cos we haven’t done even one single proper one ‘till today. Live gigs are something I enjoy to watch, and I also love to perform CACODAEMON’s music for smaller audiences that come to our rehearsals, so it’s time to get on the stage now! To be honest, one of our dreams is to play abroad one day, but in a decent manner – just humble touring. I don’t want CACODAEMON to be big, ‘cos making music, performing it and getting feedback satisfies me. And as it is said; there are things that money can’t buy, like the Metal feeling.

What are your thoughts towards the trend in new musical evolution in many Death Metal bands? Would you play in gigs with Moonspell, Rhapsody, Marylin Manson maybe someday?

Oh, the sound has ruined it all! You can’t tell what band is playing, ‘cos they all sound the same. That’s why they should go more garage! Maybe it’s a trend, or then it’s just that the new generation doesn’t like dirty sounds and bestial attitudes. I think it is just about the attitude, how clean you want to sound and so on. I like(d) Moonspell in some point, but wouldn’t play gigs with them. They’re too pop to share the stage with a Death / Thrashing band like CACODAEMON. Rhapsody is too solo-based sweeping, staccatos, dragons and men in stockings, while CACODAEMON is hammer / pull Death Fucking Aaargh singing about killing and mutilation. And I can’t shake off the fact, that I don’t like Power Metal. I haven’t thought about playing with Manson, I’m still keeping my feet on the ground, haha.

CACODAEMON’s music doesn’t fit to their style, if you know what I mean. Playing together with some local bands like DEATHCHAIN and FLAME would be ideal, so people could see the Kuopio Metal Murder going serious again.

As I supposed your music is not well accepted (because bestiality), maybe in the future you would add a few level of technique or virtuosity? I don´t mean to make commercial your music, I mean maybe you are not still satisfied with the final result?

The songs on "Morbid Winds…" show that CACODAEMON HAS developed its style into something more mature (if you’ve heard "Fullmoon Ritual"), the songs are a bit more technical yet old school and bestial. But in the end, I trust in the victory of simplicity, so CACODAEMON’s music will always lean on bestiality! CACODAEMON concentrates on guitar work, and it will have more shades and details in the future, just wait for our full-length to come out, you will hear it! A new element that you will hear is the feeling that is closer to REAL METAL (not JUST extreme metal chaos), and the combined work of two guitars, as we now have Wicked Ischanius as my assistant. I will do everything to make CACODAEMON’s music obscure and bestial, and it is my main purpose! More unison-leads, maybe a bit more melodic hooks and death-reeking thrashing! And you are right; people don’t accept CACODAEMON, maybe not because of our musical style, but because we are not a NSBM band, hahahahahaha.

Is VOICE OF THE UNDERGROUND a label or just a monicker?

VOTU is a label and a distro of some kind, so it is not just a monicker. Beside CACODAEMON, VOTU also releases tapes (and hopefully also 7") by ELECTRIC ENLIGHTENMENt and DEATH THRASHERS KUOPIO, and hopefully by other bands as well. VOTU is also a small distro, from where you can get some BM / DM tapes, 7" and second hand LPs, feel free to ask!

If someone says “FINLAND” I inmediately remember BEHERIT, IMPALED NAZARENE and cold valleys! What is about the histories of both bands? Do you enjoy their musical evolution?

Yes, BEHERIT and IMPALED NAZARENE are essential, and fells and forest as well, hehe! IMPALED NAZARENE was one of the first extreme metal bands I’ve heard, and BEHERIT waited just around the corner, so they are a big influence to me and many other Finnish Metal Heads. I could say that IMPALED NAZARENE is still tough, and their gigs kill, though I like their demos and the first album best! BEHERIT is always cool in a way of another, "Oath Of Black Blood" is still my favourite BEHERIT-release. And the best thing about them is that they gave the best part of their career here in Kuopio, so we have a regional pride in our Metal History (without forgetting TAROT, WARMATH, BARATHRUM …).

What another finnish acts can we expect from the land of fiords? What finnish bands you think are only a pain in the ass?

Well, the Death Metal artillery is strong up here; SLUGATHOR, DEVILRY, DEEPRED, SOTAJUMALA, WOUNDS, ROTTEN SOUND, and so on, they all are unique in their own way. TAROT, the local heavy metal legend is still doing gigs, and they are worth of checking out! For the Black Metal people we have CLANDESTINE BLAZE, ugh, I don’t know anyone else that I could possibly mention with a positive tone or then I just can’t keep up with them!

I just follow the extreme music scene! Oh, and FLAME and DEATHCHAIN from Kuopio are also killer! Support them!

Talking again about your country, I guess many people (at least from here) forget you are neighbourghs with Norway and Sweden. Did this geographic position influence in the development of Black and Death Metal in Finland? By the way, what happened with all the “evil” bands from out there? I hear not too much news from there! Are maybe most of them playing now the new wannabe Heavy Metal? Searching for Century Media or Nuclear Blast recording offers?

I think that we Finns have always tried to be our own selves, like IMPALED NAZARENE! They told the Norwegian Black Metallers to piss off and they have developed a style of their own! VENOM and such have always been the greatest influences on Finnish Metal, until now, when we have tons of bands who are more likely influenced by DARKTHRONE, MAYHEM, ILDJARN, IMMORTAL and such. Personally I think that BATHORY is the King of Scandinavian Black Metal! Sweden had some cool Death Metal bands inthe early years, and they were a big influence for the Finnish Death Metal scene back then. What about now… I don’t pay attention to the ones seeking for deals by big labels or the "evil bands", all I know is that the Finnish evil black metal scene is famous for internal fighting rather than making progress. And it sucks big time. That’s why I suggest you to get to know to the Finnish Death and Thrash Metal Die Hard Maniacs, who show some real metal spirit. They drink and brawl and bang their heads, and I like it! They are the true children of the Lord of Flies.

Let´s make a kind of curriculum vitae: What bands have you played for? Project or side bands? Zines, Labels, etc?

CACODAEMON has been my main band since the end of 1996. In 1999 I and Johan (our vocalist, previously known as Moribundus) formed a band that played more epic metal, with no blasting, more like Heavy Metal. First we called it HORNED GOD OF THE WOODS and it was seriously speaking fucking epic stuff. But later on we quitted that one and I turned it into ELECTRIC ENLIGHTENMENT which is now a band of my own. EE plays real Heavy Metal Rock a la JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN, WASP… Ischanius is helping me out with some instruments and effects. I might get some more members to play in it, so we can play live as well. When Wicked Ischanius joined CACODAEMON, he told me that he was going to resurrect his old thrash metal projects, and I decided to give him a helping hand. We rehearsed the track he had plus a few covers, and named the band DEATH THRASHERS KUOPIO. DTK is also about to do some serious killing, contact Ischanius for this! These are the most important BANDS of mine.

VOICE OF THE UNDERWORLD is now three years old, as I told you, releasing tapes and such. Good and extreme bands, maniacs and other assorted wankers contact now! And as you might know, we are writing the first issue of BAD TASTE ‘zine, a magazine devoted to Death / Thrash / Extreme Black / Doom and Heavy Metal. Watch out for this one! Total sickness and perversion. I and Johan have also been playing in a band called DEAD LOSS, haha, some non-existing band, in which I played the guitar. Like MOTÖRHEAD and such. We rehearsed with them once, I and Johan were pissed and didn’t have any will to concentrate on it, haha. That one rehearsal weekend we spent at my friend’s house, being so wasted that you have no idea about it. If I remember right, DEAD LOSS is no more. I and Obscurus (bass) have a BLACK SABBATH cover band, PETER STAFWAIN AND THE WAR PIGS, I play the drums in that as well, kinda fun band of two Sabbath-worshippers. I have talked with Ischanius about playing something stranger, some acid progressive rock, like ELP / YES / etc. meets orchestral elements. A band in which we would squeeze the be(a)st out of ourselves.

Tell me about the most bestial grinder show or gig you have been? Do you travel frequently to Norway or Sweden? What good bands can you recommend from there?

Ah, what could possibly beat the SLAYER-gig I saw a year ago? Fucking great, all the classics, headbanging, drinking for about 13 hours in one day. In the witching hour, I was so fucking drunk that I vomited Tequila in the bar’s aluminium-coloured toilet with a 5 min. pause. Some elder BARATHRUM / IMPALED NAZARENE / URN gigs are also monumental, like the time when Demonos fell on the drum kit, fire-blowing, blood-throwing and IN playing their ancient songs. But hey, I’m going to see MANOWAR in November!!!

The last time I’ve been to Norway was about ten years ago, and I don’t remember a fuck from it. I have been thinking about going there again next summer, but I will be so occupied with other things that I might have to miss it. I visited Sweden – Stockholm - about five years ago, and should go there again one day. I don’t know about the Norwegian scene in the 21st century, Sweden has some tough names like NIFELHEIM, PAGAN RITES, DEVIL LEE ROT and so on. To be honest I’d like to live in Australia. I worship the metal culture there and on the top of that; I could probably shake off my paranoiac fear towards snakes.

Is it true in norse TV you can find at least once a week Dimmu Borgir, Mayhem (new) & Satyricon shows? How underground is Commercial Metal in your area? And in Sweden or Norway?

I don’t watch TV, except some British series, heh. But it is true that there are some metal videos, like those you mentioned, on TV. Luckily the Kuopio-area is being cleaned of these commercial assholes, and there are more and more of underground maniacs. But you can see the fuckers, they’re everywhere, right? In Finland, metal is quite accepted, like an icehockey player goes to a metal festival every summer.

What is doing now Holocausto from BEHERIT? Is he still in the scene? What does he think about the reawakening of his legacy? Do you see him? What are doing the another BEHERIT members?

My knowledge about the present situation of Holocausto is very unreliable. I think he has been working for the famous label, SPINEFARM, I don’t know if he’s still working for them. So if he works for a metal label, I guess he still likes metal in some way. Someone said that he has been a DJ, don’t know, haha. About the reawakening of the legacy, I have heard that he wants the old cult to rest in peace… I haven’t seen him, and even if I had, I wouldn’t have recognised him. I don’t know any ex-BEHERIT members, so I don’t know what they are doing, sorry!

Maybe you think I am too curious, but have in mind BEHERIT is kind of fave band for me? Besides I don´t know so much of them... I bought some years ago the 3^rd CD “HV154 I don´t know what else”, and it was a total boycott compared what I had listened before!

Yep, Holocausto renovated BEHERIT’s sound, but I like it all in a way of another! You can always hear what he’s up to, if you know something about … something.

What the fuck means “Suomi Finland Perkele”????????

I think it is a sentence stolen from a legendary book / movie called "The Unknown Soldier". It tells about the second world war in Finland, battles against the Soviet Union, check it out, you foreign bastards.

I don’t remember the character who screamed that, but IMPALED NAZARENE was impressed by it. That song by the way is also in the army juke-box if the rumours are right, haha. So, it is a war yell, Perkele means the Devil and it is a famous cursing word. Kill with Power!

Give us the shortest Finnish History Lesson ever written in the history of mankind! How was born Finland? Who were their traditional enemies? How was its participation in II World War? How is the government now? I totally ignore all the answers to these questions!

Long time ago the people of northern Russia spread to Hungary, Estonia, elsewhere to Russia and to Finland. Lots of years passed and then Sweden and Russia started to rule our land, Finland was like a throwing ball. In the 18th century our language developed into its present form and after that our ancestors slowly started to yearn for independence.

Before 1917 there were civil wars and wars against our enslavers, until we got our independence. Then years passed and in the years of second world war our grandfathers ended up in two significant battles: the winter war and the second war, I can’t translate well, could it be something like "the continuation war". As you might know, we showed the Ruskies who was the boss and our outnumbered soldiers thrashed them in the scenery that was unfamiliar to the Red Nations; the wintry forest (doesn’t it sound evil?).

We also borrowed our roads for the Germans, so they could invade Russia through Finland. That’s all about the wars, if you want me to be quick.

What about the government… Some laws suck and I am going to violate them, haha. The cops here are too serious about the U.S. police TV shit. Drinking coffee and donuts, and I am not giving bullshit. My pal was robbed and mugged in Helsinki, all they said was: "Sorry, we are now going to have some coffee". Actually I am more worried about the States, and what they are doing. I bet you’ll all find it out soon (cruel laughing). Fucking sick… Prepare for the inverted big bang!

I know the great nature, which I’d like to see – honestly. I know the cool musicians from Peru, who play their flutes and guitars in the central of Kuopio every summer. I know GOAT SEMEN, LEVIFER, CADAVER INCUBATOR (however it went), SERMONIZE, ANAL VOMIT and all the other bands. The rest I don’t remember. Maybe some terrorism in the elder news, like car bombs and these fucking psycho groups! Inca culture, Indian-looking guys and fat women.
