First off I would like to say that Tarot is an amazing band with awesome
talent! But if you were to introduce your band to someone who has never
heard Tarot before, how would you introduce your band as?

What to say… all right… Tarot is the old school heavy metal band with the modern sound, fresh ideas mixed up with strong lyrics, beautiful melodies and pure rage.

What is a usual day like for the Hietala brothers?

Marco is living 400 kilometers from me so it’s hard to say, but my day basics are quite simple.
If I don’t have something special I hang around our keyboard players studio listening demo bands or so.

I like to watch movies, read books and of course I play guitar a lot. Partying couple of times a week will fresh you week duties and social life.

Tell us, what's the best thing about being in Tarot?

To do work with different personalities and make it really work.

What is the best/worst thing a fan has recently given you?

Some nude pictures e-mail, I don’t know was it best or worst situation, he!
Go figure.

In your personal opinion, what makes Tarot different from other bands in your genre?

Huh, what the question… I don’t want to explain some bla bla blah bullshit, but in my opinion we have create easily recognized own style along these years of our career.
We have never ever done any song thinking this will sound Iron Maiden or Judas Priest or now I have this Rainbow riff and now we need some Whitesnake choruses on it.
Many bands are actually doing things like this.

What always gets you into trouble?

What do you mean? I never get in the trouble, okay with women constantly, but we don’t count it, do we?

Do you have any memorable gigs and or fans?

So many, so it will be TROUBLE to tell about them, he!
Couple of years ago some women fans (in our case exeptional) brought us terrible amount of alcohol and cigarettes. They’ve been around Europe buying special stuff which is expensive here or you have to order them, so we were really pleased of those presents, thank you girls.

Some people are morning people and some people aren't, which are you?

I’m not.

I know that you are a huge fan of sci-fi, so I'll ask you something that
goes into the scenes of science fiction. If aliens came to abduct a member
from Tarot, who would you want them to abduct and why?

Surely it will be Marco, he has hope that for years now and probably he is the only one of us who could communicate or understand them.
Actually they wouldn’t abduct Cinnari because his from different planet already, he!


What’s the funniest and or worst thing that recently happened to you while
performing up on stage?

There’s so many funny things going around all the time, so I can remember only the worst.
This has happen before and will happen again… always when we are playing in small clubs, there’s most drunken fan front of me and he wants to do stage diving or something… ending up falling his beer in to my amps and crashing down my guitars, so our roudies have to change my amps cause they are tilting and all my guitars are untuned, except the guitar I’m playing.
That’s the hell for the guitar player, because if you break the string and forced to change your guitar you don’t have tuned guitars anymore and in my case my guitars are specially tuned so I don’t trust that our roudies can handle the tunings.
This far I’ve been lucky and haven’t break the strings.

What do you want people to gain from listening to your music and is there
any advice you would give to other musicians who are still trying to break
into the music industry?

It is same with a ll music, entertainment, satisfaction and peace of mind.
Patience and more patience is all you need to get even noticed, not to mention to get on the top.
