Rob Zombie and the remake of Halloween
by Tero Tolkki at 14.06.2007 23:32
Are you one of those who grew up watching these horrormovies like Halloween, Hellraiser, Nightmare On Elm-Street and Friday the 13th? Brings back a memory or two eh? I was still too young to watch it when the original Halloween came in 1978 but it didn't take too many years before seeing it.
Halloween was actually the movie that made me a fan for these types of movies. In a way I would've hoped that they would've left the whole series to the first 2 movies cause everything after the 2nd part was just filling. Ok parts 4 and 5 were still relatively ok but everything after that was pure crap...I think they ruined the mystery of Michael Myers.

You can understand my concern when the rumours of this remake started roaming around the internet. The only good thing about it at the time was that it was going to be directed by Rob Zombie. I have nothing but my atmost respect towards the guy but would he be good enough for this task?
The relief was huge when I was reading this interview where Rob Zombie said that he doesn't consider this movie being a remake. He is going to make his own version of it and that's it. And I think that is the only way to go in this case.
Below are some plot outlines for Halloween by the courtesy of IMDB:
"After young Michael Myers killed his older sister one Halloween night he was committed for 15 years to a mental institution were he soon broke out and is in search for his little sister Laurie Strode as he returns back to his home town Haddonfield and finds his sister she and hers friends must put up a battle to survive as Michael Myers tries to kill them. Written by Nick F. "
"After being committed for 15 years, Michael Myers, now a 21-year-old man and still very dangerous, escapes from the mental institution (where he was committed as a 6 year old) and immediately returns to Haddonfield, where he wants to find his baby sister. Anyone who crosses his path is in mortal danger. Written by Adam "
