Where Victims Lie

Biography

Where Victims Lie is a five-piece thrash metal band from Jyväskylä, Finland. The band started as a project band in early 2000, when Petosalmi and Hakkola shared their vision to play aggressive thrash metal and soon asked Rahikainen to join them. All of them were strongly influenced by bands like Death, Slayer, At the Gates, Stone, Sepultura and Morbid Angel.

In 2003, soon after composing first songs, they recruited Häkkinen to play drums and decided to record their first demo in the spring. Nils Ursin (then of Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus) agreed to play bass for the demo. The first demo got some very promising feedback and after few successful (sold-out) concerts, band found their final style.

After a promising start, due to overriding priorities with other bands Where Victims Lie was going on hiatus with the status of a project band.

During these years, with constantly growing demand and promising feedback from audience, Where Victims Lie was resurrected to become a full-time band in 2006. Once again Petosalmi and Rahikainen, both having a similar musical background, easily composed new songs and decided to record a new promo. After recruiting Salonen as the new bass player, the new cd saw daylight in the beginning of 2007. The reactivation of WVL led the band to arrange a few live appearances immediately after the release.The success and excitement among the audience was overwhelming!
