Biography
Rock, metal and Finnish schlager have never before been combined with such imagination, fury and creative madness as in the music of Tytär. Melancholy schlager and heavy rock have of course been mixed before, but not in the way these groundbreakers do it.
Tytär, ("Daughter" in English) was born in the year 2000, according to their own words "to reap the madness out of the earth and write songs about it". Besides schlager, their music is flavoured with modern elements, all the way from the Mr. Bungle’s surf beats to the low-toned riffs of Sepultura, from the forceful screams to the soft Agents type of interpreting. Their sound is a triumph of originality and wholeheartedness, with the timeless trombone piloting the unprejudiced fusion towards new waters of Finnish music.
Right now Tytär is working on their debut album in Studio Kuu, Helsinki. The record will be engineered and mixed by Aake Otsala, who has previously worked with such respected Finnish left-field rockers as Jarkko Martikainen and Sydän, sydän.
"The album will be quite spicy", the vocalist-guitarist Wile states.
"We aim to push Finnish rock music scene to a new direction. It will be pretty dark; of course, as it is Tytär we are talking about"
The records of Tytär will be released by Shadow World Records, a new Finnish label concentrating on the gloomier side of music.
