Tuoni

Biography

Tuoni was born sometime between the dusk and dawn at the end of summer 2003. No one however knows exactly at what point did this semicareless project turned into a real band.

Although being a project-band, Tuoni never acted like one. Since the members were all good friends, finding the "note" wasn't difficult at all. In fact they went to studio to record songs made my bassist Leinonen without a single rehearsal. Almost a year later, Loud Music released the first Tuoni single titled "Ruusut Helvetin" which made to the top-10 on the official Finnish singlelist. And at that point, Tuoni hadn't even played any shows yet.

The release of their debut album was originally schedule to the early fall of 2004 but it got delayed. The album ended up being recorded in little pieces during several months and at the end of 2004, all the 9 songs were recorded, mixed and mastered. Spinefarm released their debut album "Elävät & Kuolleet" on February 2005.

After the release of their debut album, Tuoni started touring which they eventually did until July 2006. Then it was time to start planning the new album. The goal for the band was more and more clear to everyone as Aksu Hanttu started writing new songs in the dark and depressive fall-moments and the rest of the group were getting themselves depressed. After this there wouldn't be a shred of hope.

Half of the new songs for the new album were demoed during the fall 2006 and the recordings of the new album started on late winter 2007. The album was recorded in Grooveland-studios.

The band went back on the road with their tourdrummer Heikki Saari. The story continues...
