The Mennens

Biography

THE MENNENS was formed in summer 2006 in Finland, almost by accident. The band was supposed to be rehearsing some songs for an altogether different band, but when the first jam sessions were over, their metal of death had transformed into high volume rock'n'roll, yet still Heavy as Hell. New songs sprouted like mushrooms, and the band spent the autumn at their rehearsal place, honing the new songs and preparing for their first recording sessions.

At the end of January 2007 the band entered the studio, ready with a set of songs, but still without a name. Luckily enough, the name presented itself in a series of fortunate events during the very first night of the recordings. The band had run out of beer and set out for some more at the local grocery store. They bought the beers and were on their way out when P's eye spotted a lonely bottle of Mennen, that infamous aftershave, on the shelves. On the spur of the moment he grabbed the bottle and later set it up as a talisman at the studio, imbuing the whole recording sessions with the charms of that green nectar. After sniffing at the bottle for the night the band decided to name themselves after their new-found talisman, as its elegant odour seemed to be in perfect accord with the music they were recording. If you know the smell of Mennen, you know what The Mennens sound like.

After some weeks of recording and some more time of mixing and mastering, The Mennens finally had a finished product in their hands, the "Mental Blues".
