Biography
TACERE is a new diverse melodic metal band hailing from the capital area of Finland. The band combines elements from different metal subgenres to create their unique sound. The band also has both male and female vocals (both also alternating between clean and raspy) making it possible to create versatile music. TACERE has been compared to bands such as Therion, NIGHTWISH, Dream Theater, SONATA ARCTICA, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil and SENTENCED (to name a few) but it is very clear that this band follows it’s own path.
TACERE’s main man Karri formed TACERE (at that time known as “Tacet Lacrimae”) originally as his solo project, but very soon it became clear that to achieve his visions he needed a full band around him. Thus he started gathering people to join the band and the first official line-up was formed in the very end of 2002. Not too long after this the band shortened it’s name into TACERE and recorded their first demo “Into your dreams”. For the first couple of years TACERE had only male vocals (sung by Karri) but in the spring of 2003 Helena Haaparanta (who appeared as a guest on TACERE’s “The legend of Gévaudan” demo) joined the band completing Karri’s longtime dream of creating a band with possibilities to create very unique songs and atmospheres.
After almost three years of work, five recorded demos and dozens of gigs TACERE finally signed a recording contract with SM-Records at the very end of 2005 and The first single “I devour” was already released 31.5.2006. A Mini album called “A voice in the dark” followed in November 2006, and the release of the (already finished) full length album “Beautiful darkness” is scheduled for February of 2007. The single, Mini album and the full length are all produced by TACERE’s front man Karri together with co-producer Anssi Kippo – a producer extraordinaire who is probably best known for his ground breaking work with the Finnish metal legends CHILDREN OF BODOM.
At this very exciting moment of time a new generation of Finnish music is being created, and for the first time in history bands from this tiny, cold and dark northern nation are born straight into the global music market, and TACERE is a strong part of this movement. Following the path of pioneers such as HIM, The Rasmus, NIGHTWISH and the recent Eurovision song contest winner LORDI, who brought Finnish music into the attention of the rest of the world, it has been very clear since the beginning that the goal of TACERE is to reach the ears of music listeners all around the world. The band has already received fans around the globe, radio play in over 10 countries and deals for releasing music of TACERE in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Russia and the CIS-states. Not to mention the recently received licensing deal offers for US release and several companies interested in releasing the band’s debut album in the whole of Europe. And these are only the first small steps on TACERE’s path to join the Finnish musical success stories’ hall of fame.
