Biography

Simulacrum is a progressive metal band from Turku, Finland. It originally started off as a highschool band founded 12 years ago by the composer/keyboard player Christian ”Chrism” Pulkkinen.
The original line-up had already 3 members of the current one; Chrism, his little brother Nicholas Pulkkinen (guitar) and Olli Hakala (bass). The name Simulacrum was adopted a few years after and the band found a
drummer finally suitable for the challenging music, Markus Wallasvaara. Niklas Broman (vocals) joined the band in 2004. At the beginning of 2011, Simulacrum parted ways with long-time drummer Markus Wallasvaara.
He is now replaced by young hotshot Samuel Hildén.

Simulacrum's music is progressive metal with a distinct sound and atmosphere. Even though some musical influences are audible here and there, the originality is unchallenged by many in the same genre. We like
to challenge and reward listeners with every song we produce, you won't see fill-up songs on our records and each composition has a soul of it's own.

Simulacrum is a tight band also on live stages. The band has played shows together with SEVENTH WONDER, MACHINAE SUPREMACY, ADAMANTRA, REVERSION and STATUS MINOR to mention a few. Interest has
also been expressed from abroad. With the band's average age reaching only 25, the band shows a high level of energy and enthusiasm when on stage and listeners are bewildered by the high skill level of the musicians.

Our first album is finished, and we have a lot of new material ready for the next one. The second album will be more straight forward, heavyer and thrashier without forgetting the core element of progression. We believe
that success can't be achieved by mimicing other bands such as Dream Theater or Symphony X and that we have to follow our own musical path to discover a distinctive style and sound. We feel like we have done a
great job of sounding original on the first album and we hope the public will enjoy what we have to offer when it is released later this year!
