Biography
Refusal's history in a nutshell: the band was founded in early January 2008. Tero Pirhonen and Timo Pirhonen wanted to form a band with no special goals. They found the drummer Aleksi Roitto and guitarist Sophie through the internet and then Timo asked his old friend Niikka Lius if he wanted to sing for the new band. Niikka accepted the call. The band's name was to be Refusal. Rehearsals started in January 2008 and first gig was performed in 30th of March 2008.
In February Sophie announced that she would be leaving Finland for six months and so the band decided to find a replacement guitarist during Sophie´s time in France. Tero´s old friend Ville Karhi (lately of Pleasure Hazard) took on the job and the band was back on course.
In April Refusal entered the "Ääni ja Vimma" band competition but failed to make it to the finals. After that the band decided to concentrate on playing live more and so concentrated on getting more gigs. They arranged a small metal "festival" called Meat Grinder '08 at Kontulan Nuortentoimintakeskus (Kontula´s youth center). Other bands featured were: Pleasure Hazard, Deep Runners and Sans Human. Unfortunately, audience were thin, only twenty persons max.
In late May 2008 Refusal released their first (and hopefully last) demo called Obey The Meat Grinder. The demo has 5 songs and can be obtained from this site.
Refusal has released two demos - Obey The Meat Grinder (2008) and Next To Nothing (2009) and new material is coming all the time.
