Biography
When perfection meets ambition In early 2001 Sami and Henri join the band bringing with them a more straight forward attitude towards songwriting. No more solos or weird song structures. Mosh and go. After a few months of rehearsing the band starts to shake the cities with loud and intense gigs. It's raining sweat, it's raining spit.
In the summer 2003 the band hits the studio with producer Hiili Hiilesmaa (Him, Moonspell). Dear Evilyn is taped in Jyväskylä, Helsinki and Oulu. Early spring 2004 band signs a record deal with Johanna Kustannus an extension of the legendary Love Records. A label that has had a huge influence on the development of finnish rockmusic.
Finally in October 2004 Dear Evilyn hits the stores. The band goes performing and slowly starts to write new songs.
In May 2005 band decides to quit gigging for a while and to focus on the new material. A year goes by and noone has heard of the band.
A hometown surprise gig in may 06 proves that Purity has loads of new songs to present. It is obvious that they've been really pushing the limits going fearless towards the extremes. In the autumn 2006 band starts working with producer Jani Lahtinen. There's no certainty of the releasedate to the followup. "It will be released when it's ready to be released", the band members say. Obviously they're not rushing with this one. When perfection meets ambition the clocks tend to stop. It's better to release a brilliant album every three years than a piece of shit once a year. Don't you agree?
Purity is what you get when you put five guys with totally different musical backgrounds and interests into the same room. Extremes are inevitable. Lots of arguments and disagreement appear but honestly, who gives a fuck if the results sound terrific. Beware of the year 2007.
