Biography

I am PT Loren, an alternative singrrr!/songwriter from Helsinki, Finland.
PT Loren is also the name of our 4-piece band that performs the songs that I write.
The band was formed in 2006, and besides me, consists of these guys:
Antti Mäntynen(Guitar), Anna Jaakkola(Bass) and Mikko Pajunen(Drums).

"The PT Loren band" would perhaps be a more informative name for this sort of group, but come on, seriously, who wants that when the sound is this!
So just PT Loren it is.

The music combines elements from Alternative Rock, Metal and Power-Pop, and is finalized to be what it is by adding some synthetic sounds and vocal-loops to the mix in order to create a slight industrial edge to it.

Ok, the story goes something like this:

In the late 90's and the early 00's I was the singer/guitarist and the primary songwriter of a Finnish rock group called Innpeach.
Back then, we released 2 albums, one through a major-label, the other through an independent one.
The band played some 100 shows, had several songs and videos in rotation in the Finnish mainstream media, and has still some cult status in Finland.

Innpeach called it quits in 2002, after which I started working on some various kinds of songs, as well as on a new sound.
So what if it took me four years to be at least somewhat satisfied on how the songs sounded:). Hähä!
But yes, the fall of 2006 was definitely a milestone, and a turning point too.
This was the time when our guitarist Antti Mäntynen and bassist Anna Jaakkola joined the effort that we had at this point been keeping on for a few years with our band's drummer Mikko Pajunen.

Mikko first started out as a bass player for this other band that me and this dude formed in order to see how it would sound like if there were two male lead vocals in a band.
The sound was good but the band split shortly after due to some, well, some time management issues:).
Mikko still played bass in the early stages of what is now known as PT Loren but shortly switched behind the drums and has stayed there ever since.
Well, you know what I mean damn it:).

Antti joined the group in August 2006. The circumstances were that the first
PT Loren-gig ever was scheduled for 16.09.2006 and we at this point lacked both the guitarist and the bassist too!
So, Antti joined, practiced the songs, and played his personal first gig ever too.
No drama there. Unless this qualifies as such:
The first song of this gig, the first 25 seconds of it, "Snap!", the E-string of Antti's guitar: Busted!
Talk about Baptism of fire:).

This guy Teukka played the bass on this gig that was mentioned above, and by his choice, on this gig only.

So after this, we were again a bass player short, right? Wrong! Well, not for long anyway since Anna was in the audience on this particular night.
Anna was a friend of Antti's and mostly came to see the show because of that. And only to find herself on our practice session two weeks later with a damn bass around her neck:).
I only talked to Anna briefly after the show and got to know that she played the guitar and uhmm… well, that's about it but there was something in her presence that I thought would definitely suit the band!
So, I asked Antti whether he could ask Anna, whether she would like to come over and try the bass.

He did. She did. Ain't English great:).
