Mensura

Biography

Mensura was formed in 2003 by Juha Gogulski, Pate Nuorteva and Perttu Saarsalmi. Bassist Janne Lehtola and guitarist Sampo Riikonen joined the band afterwards. With this line-up Mensura did a couple of gigs in Factory and Nosturi. They also did a demo called Sagas in the early 2004. The music was at that time folkmetal influenced by Finntroll and Moonsorrow for example.

Soon Sampo and Janne left the band and bassist Pekko Heikkilä and violinist Siiri Korhonen replaced them. Mensura did a few gigs and a demo called Crimson in december 2004. Music became darker and faster. In the year 2005 Mensura take part in Ääni ja Vimma -contest and did a couple of gigs. We understood that it would be nice to have another guitar in our band. Niko Häkkinen joined the band in autumn 2005.

In January 2006 the demo Serpentine Benediction was released. The music was again darker and faster and we tried to push our limits further. We took part in Ääni ja Vimma -contest again and played a few gigs.

The year 2007 was time to take a back seat before the storm. We played a few crushing gigs for example in Curium Metal Fest. After that though we needed some loneliness and peace for creating new material. Recordings of the new ep, Monastery of Mess started in summer 2007. The path of finishing the ep was rocky, Pate and Juha had to accomplish their military service.

Monastery of Mess was at last finished in January 2008. We're sure that the new material will blow all suckers´ brains out! Now we're looking for a record deal and boner-blowing gigs
