Biography

In a time of one-hit wonders and bands over-produced by their record companies, the female-fronted gothic heavy rock act LULLACRY have managed to achieve a direct and permanent impact on the listener with their super-catchy, well-thought songwriting, and an almost unending amount of hookline power and melodies that recycle in your mind for days.

Originating from Finlands capital Helsinki, LULLACRY recorded their first demo, Weeper´s Aeon, in the fall of 1998, and immediately started to gain a rabid following. After releasing their debut full-length, Sweet Desire (Heart, Trust and Respect Records), in late 1999, LULLACRY signed a deal with Spinefarm Records. The first product of this new relationship was the album Be My God.

Be My Gods 11 tracks were the finest examples of well-executed modern, Gothic-influenced heavy rock in the vein of H.I.M and Sentenced, with a pounding groove and the ever-present beauty of original vocalist Tanya´s atmospheric performance. This was the bands first album to be released through Century Media for the territories of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, BeNeLux and North America, helping them further expand their growing fanbase. LULLACRY were soon invited to support Germany's uprising power metal stars Edguy on a lengthy full European tour. Finally having the opportunity to perform before big audiences in packed venues, the band received great reactions and confirmed that their material is tailor-made for the stage.

In the spring of 2002, LULLACRY saw the departure of their then-vocalist Tanya due to musical differences, an event that many saw as a threat to the future of the band. However, the group seized the opportunity and quickly forged ahead, and after numerous female hopefuls auditioned, they secured a perfect replacement to fill the slot. The new siren came by the name of Tanja, ironically sharing the same name as her predecessor. The new Tanja took LULLACRY to the next level in their career.

Their third album, Crucify My Heart, easily demonstrated to any naysayers and critics that LULLACRY was indeed up to the task of not only outdoing the musical quality of their earlier releases, but also opening new doors towards a more crossover and alternative audience. Crucify My Heart was recorded at Finnvox Studios in September 2002 with famed producer Mikko Karmila, and was a massive success worldwide both with the audience and the critics.

And now, to warm-up for the recordings of their next album and for their upcoming tour with Nightwish, 2004 sees the release of LULLACRYs new EP Fire Within! With two new tracks Fire Within and The #1 rebel, plus two remakes of some classic LULLACRY-tracks and a cover of W.A.S.P.s L.O.V.E. Machine, this EP will certainly keep all fans of gothic rock warm until the release of LULLACRYs fourth album, which will be released on September 2005.
