Biography
King'O'waR is a true metalband from Hervanta, Finland. It was founded in January 2000 when TRASH VIDEO needed some music for their super movie Murhapukki (The Slayer Santa). After making their first instant hit "The Brothers of Thunder and Metal and Steel" they thought that King'O'waR was too good to be forgotten and so they kept on doing more songs.
In October 2000 they released their first album "King'O'waR Has Come to Kill". King'O'waR's music is strongly influenced by bands such as Manowar, King Diamond, Rhapsody, Iron Maiden and Yngwie Malmsteen, but the style of King'O'waR's music is more progressive.
King'O'waR has only two players in it: Sami Saarinen and Matti Kuusniemi. They do not have a drummer, but that's what the drum-machines are for!
Sami Saarinen is the songwriter and the no.1 guitar, bass and synth player. He is a highly skilled and appreciated metalguitar player and he has formerly played in a band called Dimension. Saarinen is much influenced by Yngwie Malmsteen and some of his favourites, when it somes to music, are Michael Romeo (Symphony X) and all the classical composers such as Vivaldi, Mozart and Chopin.
Matti Kuusniemi is the lyricist and the secondary guitar player in the band. Kuusniemi has previously played in bands as Ruoste and Done. He writes the lyrics mostly with the inspiring assistance of Saarinen. Kuusniemi's other hobbies are oilpainting and movie making (he is and original member of TRASH VIDEO). Kuusniemi listens to progressive metal (Symphony X, Dream Theater, Rhapsody, Star One...), 80's heavy (Metallica, Iron Maiden, Dio, Anthrax, W.A.S.P...), 90's metal (Pantera, Amorphis...) and everything else heavy enough. Also classical music and blues strike to Matti's nerve.
