Band
Immortal Angelica is a band from Jyväskylä, Finland, consisting of 4 members. Currently the band has a vocalist, drummer, singer-bassist and a synthesizer-guitarist.
The music of Immortal Angelica is a unique blend of several distinct styles, including heavy metal, Celtic and cinematic influences. This wide-ranging melange of sound creates an atmosphere which could be described as emotional, melodic and, more than anything, diverse.
Immortal Angelica has only been active from the beginning of July 2007, but the seed from which the band eventually grew from, was planted by founding members Satu and Hanna a long time ago.
Biography
A few years ago, like written to the stars, two creative maidens found each other and began to search themselves musically and in other ways as well. Soon after inspirational moments spent together an idea of forming a melancholic and dark metal band evolved.
At this point Hanna's journey with guitar and keys had only just begun whereas Satu, a self-taught pianowizard, had already started composing at a young age. With her beautiful voice, she sang songs about the arriving autumn and mushrooms.
Satu patiently encouraged Hanna to make her own songs and soon Hanna began to succeed in playing and composing music. The two of them started a thorough search for band members. The search went on for a long time until violinist Tiina and drummer Timo decided to join the project. The former duo began to expand into a real band.
At first, the band rehearsed together only every now and then, until Timo surprised all by announcing the band to perform at Casino Rock 2007. The upcoming performance caused such a panic that practicing harder felt necessary. Completing the band with another vocalist and guitarist became important as well because the band wanted to have a good first gig.
Guitarist Vinski's own application was found from a finnish musicians' website "muusikoiden.net" where he was searching for a band. Right after the first contact, Vinski was picked up to the rehearsal place where he impressed everyone with his guitar handling skills.
At this point, only the vocalist was missing. The requirements for the singer were clear - the vocalist should have an ethereal voice and the vocal range should be vast. Jenni found out that Immortal Angelica was in desperate need of another singer and immediately contacted the band. She came to audition a few days later, grabbed the microphone and when she began to sing, the band members were moved and the founder members stated their dream of a real band finally fulfilled. Immortal Angelica was almost complete and chasing dreams could be continued with a legion of six members.
Our first demo Reminiscence was released on April 5th 2008 and it has been a greater success than we ever could've imagined. Unfortunately Immortal Angelica faced some heavy line-up changes during the year. Timo, Vinski and Tiina departed ways with the band so we needed to find new members. Tuomas, a magnificent drummer, joined Immortal Angelica on September. At the same time, we announced that Jenni would not only sing, but play the bass as well. She had been practising really hard during the summer and decided to be Immortal Angelica's first bassist.
