Was founded january 2001 at Kotka, Finland, from the ashes of a band called Exorcist. Founding members Sami(gtrs), Ville(drms), Jykä(gtrs) and Jaska (vcls) wanted to have a band that is extreme in every way. Soon after the band was formed they got a session bass player Runde, who was also playing in a group called Rainhold(Hardcore). With this line-up, in spring 2K1 ID:eX recorded their first demo at a local Studio with the help of Arttu Horttanainen. The demo was mixed at Astia Studio by Anssi Kippo. Some gigs went on after that.

A Year later(2002) it was time to do the second EP. Recording sessions took place at Kotka with Arttu Horttanainen and ID:eX Guitarist Sami. EP was called "Souls For Sale" and It presented new more brutal ID: Exorcist and the music also had a lot more depth than the first one. After recording sessions Runde decided to leave ID:eX and consentrate on Rainhold. New bass player was founded soon after that when Ville Muona, a young Metalhead from Kotka joined the band.

Gigs played etc etc... Jaska went to the military service in the summer of 2002, so it was time to ease a little bit. Some gigs were cancelled during this time... September 2002-january 2003 we played few gigs across Finland and recorded our third demo cd "Two Years Of Downhill". Jaska's Service time ended in early january and Sami started his service a weekend later. Sami Mixed "TYOF" during weekends when he was at home. Only one gig played During the spring and summer -03. "Two years of Downhill" received a lot of great feedback from all over the world. Connections were made to the US and UK.

October 9th, 2003 Sami Finished his military service. ID:eX did just one gig at the end of year. What Else? Well, Ville Started his military Service January 2004. This is a cycle that every finnish man has to do. Jykä went to the same place... Sami went to Lappeenranta to study some music recording/producing... All went to HELL! No. ID:eX started to record their fourth EP, Promote Chaos, at the end of may. Some line up changes were made, bass player Ville Muona was fired and Tommi Vehmas Joined the band as a bass player.

With the new line-up ID: eX started to write songs for the forthcoming EP titled Flatline. For the first time everything seemed to click and Flatline received excellent feedback from finnish media. It was nominated as record of the week by Imperiumi.net, the largest of Finlands metal medias.
