Biography

ENTHROPE was formed in 2006 by guitarists Jani and Ville. The idea for the band had been dwelling in the minds of the gentlemen for a long time and it was clear from the beginning: atmospheric and heavy music based on death metal, combined with etherial and dark synth parts to form a multidimensional and original mixture. The rest of the group was found easily and the band headed for D-Studio in Nurmijärvi to record its first EP on December 2006.

The Universe Mute EP was published in the spring of 2007 and its acceptance surprised the band also: Demo of the Month (Inferno Magazine 49, Best New Band, Finnish Metal Awards 2008-nominee (nominated by Metalliliitto-Radioshow DJ Matti Riekki) and making to the Top 3 Finalists out of 350 demos sent to the Alkupiste-band competition held in February 2008. By the words of finnish rock legend Pauli Hanhiniemi, who was part of the Jury: “I understand nothing about your music, but on stage - looks and sounds good, to the finals!” Not bad, considering that it was only the fifth gig for Enthrope.

In the beginning of 2008 the band had enough new competent material that it was again time to enter D-Studio. The results from the sessions can now be heard on the EP called Silenced Earth which has continued to develop the style even further. Like all unsigned bands, the target for Enthrope, besides playing gigs, is to find a suitable partner and agree on a recording contract. Target which shouldn’t for the band take too long to reach given the strength of the material.
