Biography
1997/1998 - Symphonic black metal band Shadeclad Poetry is found from the remains of two BM-acts. First gig played at some local youth-center in Vantaa, Finland.
1999 - Band re-named after their song Diablerie 4-D and the first demo ’Astro’ is recorded in Sundi Coop studio Savonlinna, Finland by Tuomo Valtonen. Original guitarist J. Grasten kicked out during the lack of competence and for paying more attention to boozing. He is replaced by E. Lunden, the former session bassist of the band. 12/03/1999 J.Hämäläinen (The Chant) plays bass for the second as a session member in Vernissa Club, Vantaa, Finland w/ Twilight Ophera and Excelsior. Soon after the third gig a new bassist is found and A. Ahokas joins the band.
2000 - In 03/31/2000 Diablerie plays a gig in "West Coast Holocaust IV" -event in Turku, Finland w/ Hellbox and Moonsorrow .
This is the first gig with the debut album recording line-up. Later that year Diablerie signs a contract with an italian label Avantgarde Music. After one more gig the band enters Sundi Coop-studio to record their debut and again under a guidance of Tuomo Valtonen.
2001 - Debut album 'Seraphyde' is being released and the reviewers are definetely split in two. Those who love it and those who hate it. Later that year founder/songwriter H.Villberg decides to quit his musical career and concentrates to more casual things. He leaves the band as well as his other side- projects. Bassist A. Ahokas leaves soon after because he feels that the band can't be the same without H.Villberg. However, both of them join Rapture during the years 2001-2002. A. Ahokas as a permanent guitarist and H.Villberg as a session-member. In 2002 after the departure of two members E. Lunden is being dismissed.
2003 - Three-piece Diablerie lays low and slowly continues writing a new material while playing in other projets as well (The Chant, Dramatuner). During the success of the other projects and different ambitions Diablerie as we know it ceases to exist.
2005 - The silence continues yet there is something going on under the surface. H. Villberg composes a material quite similar to Diablerie for his side-project but has a hard time to come up with a band name. The answer to this question is obvious when Rapture's mastermind T. Ullgrén states to Villberg: "Name your project Diablerie and I'm in". After a several requests to reactivate Diablerie and a few discussions with now previous members and with Avantgarde Music the thing gets settled and Diablerie is back in business.
2006 - Mr. TwentynineA (Scorngrain/ Arrival/ Flauros) phones Villberg and tells that he is interested to release a limited 7-inch picture vinyl for Diablerie. Villberg/Ullgrén agrees this proposal and hits the studio. H.Villberg sees this as a perfect opportunity to pay a tribute to his all-time favorite band Impaled Nazarene which started his black-death metal fanaticism in the first place. The band records IN-song Sadhu Satana as well as one of their own tracks. This bastard is being released under a title 'Reactivation ep.' To be continued...
