Biography
The first months: On a dark, cold autumn night in the year 2004 Petteri Soila got a crazy idea: "I want to form a band!". So he asked Aki Jalkanen to play bass with him... And they played... and played some more... After a couple of months Petteri and Aki met Olli Vainionpää who joined their little project to play drums.
The summer came, and along with it came Sami: Finally it was summer, and Petteri and Olli were having nice time with Petteri's old school mate Sami Saravo. The nameless project needed a singer and a second guitarist, and Sami was just about the right guy to fill those empty seats. Now those four were ready to play for real. They were ready to be a band!
As the leafs fell: Autumn had come and school had just started. Everything was grey again, everything exept those four fellows who wanted to rock! They had found their first real rehersal place from a bomb shelter located in Joensuu. After the first rehersal the group thought that something was still missing from the music; they needed a keyboard player. Petteri had met Tommi Ilonen at school and he knew that Tommi could play keys. So one cheerful night (after some wild airguitar solos) Petteri asked Tommi to join them... and thus, Decended was born.
The tale of Decended: Decended started with playing covers, mostly from a finnish band Children Of Bodom. But soon they all got tired with playing songs that weren´t their own. In fact that was the reason for Olli's parting in the spring of 2006. So after many drummer candidates Decended took Lari "Bige" Turunen to play drums. Unfortunately, Lari was not able to handle Olli's duties completely, so after a few months they were forced to let Bige go. Olli came back and Decended was complete again.
Tommi started to compose music. The music was strongly influenced by power metal (which was not really the favourite of the others) but eventually they started to really like Tommi's work. Before that, they had played some nice songs made by Sami, but Tommis compositions were more what they were looking for. Petteri and Tommi started to sing clean vocals, and so Decended combined growl and clean vocals.
Once again the autumn came. For Decended it was time to play their first show (Tuulaaki - Joenyö 2006). Even though the gig was not the great breaktrough they were hoping for, it spawned a plenty of new fans and aroused intrest around the city. Decended rushed to other challenges and played a few gigs at a local youth place called "Scream". When Decended was on stage, the roof was on fire! People really liked them. After playing some shows and recording a demo CD (Through The Valleys Of Hate - 2007), Decended got invited to play at Ilosaarirock, one of the greatest music festivals in Finland.
Erno "Hermo" Sallinen had heard Decended's demo. He contacted the band and asked them if he could produce an EP for them, and of course they said yes. So now Decended had a deal for EP, and a gig booked for a big summerfestival. Things looked pretty great for Decended. Ilosaarirock came and Decended played their gig and enjoyed the festival. Now it was time to think about the EP. The recordings started at fall 2007, and the EP was launched in february 2008.
