APRIL To Release 'Anthems For The Rejected' This Month

09 August 2008

Helsinki-based alternative metallers APRIL will release their sophomore album, "Anthems for the Rejected", on August 27 through Spinefarm Records. Biography

When was the last time you heard a metal band with really good songs? We almost regret to say it, but most of the modern metal is generic and faceless, self-replicating mass, form without content.

April from Helsinki, Finland wants to deviate from that form. Melodies, compositions and arrangements mean more to them than just belting it out with full force. April IS more. So much more.

Therefore it is only logical that of all the people Tero Kinnunen, known for his work with million-selling Nightwish, was singled out to be the producer of April’s debut album Tidelines.

The preproduction of Tidelines started in the early spring of 2006, right after April had signed with Spinefarm Records. As a result of this lengthy labour of love, Tidelines turned out a real gem. It’s filled to the brim with virtuoso vocals and gigantic riffing as well as beautiful and balanced songwriting. It's definitely heavy metal but with alternative rock and pop music flavours.

For once, it is justified to say that the band has built its fan base with hard work and relentless touring, without anyone’s help. April has been on the road for two years, both in Finland and in Sweden. They’ve supported Welsh heroes Bullet for My Valentine and the cream of the crop of the Finnish metal scene. They’ve taken the stage by storm on both of the major Finnish metal bacchanals, Sauna Open Air and Tuska metal fest! All this when they were still a demo band. No small feat, but there is much more to come. So much more.
