Tepa Karjalainen and Jari Kelloniemi Discuss the Reunion of A.R.G. In New Interview

17 March 2012

The Metal Crypt have recently conducted an interview with vocalist and bassist Tepa Karjalainen and guitarist Jari Kelloniemi of A.R.G. An exterpt of the interview is available below: "Luxi: Could you tell us next what was (or were) the main reason (-s) for bringing the rotten graveguards back to life again in 2011? Tepa: The main reason was that the time was right. Sometimes in the early 2000 we talked about a possible comeback, but every time the result of these talks turned into just laughs. However, little by little my interest to play again kept on growing. Biography

A.R.G., (standing for "Anarchy Rules Games" and subsequently "Ancient Rotten Graveyards"), respectable Thrashers from Kuusamo, Finland, had a keen enough humour to label themselves as "Reindeer Metal". An early line-up included Aku Raaska of NATIONAL NAPALM SYNDICATE as vocalist. Guitarist Vesa Säkkinen, bass player Jari Kelloniemi and drummer Pasi Takkula would be known for parallel membership of LYCANTROPHY.

Oddly the B side to their debut 1988 single 'Aggressive Confessor' featured a song about a tractor, 'Massey Ferguson'. A demo, 'Heathenism In Penitentiary', followed that same year. The first album, 1989's 'Entrance', was produced by Mara Mäntyniemi and Ilari Niemelä. A second album, 'One World Without The End', was delivered through Megamania in 1991. A.R.G. returned in 1993, brandishing the eleven track demo 'Purged To Blaze Again', which notably included a cover version of CELTIC FROST's seminal 'Dethroned Emperor'. The 'Electro-Orgasm' promotional session followed up in 1994.

A.R.G. vocalist / bassist Tepa Karjalainen was also known on the Finnish Metal scene for running the 'Epitaph' fanzine. Guitarist Vesa Säkkinen, re-billed as 'Wesleyer', founded PAIN CONFESSOR.
